OK Guys -- I am quite bored, so I took a look at the JSB myself, and I found alot of problems! I am redoing all the positions of everything, aerodynamics, etc.

So yeah, lets get one of my fav aircraft flying nicely again!

Any 3D modellers wish to improve the exterior?

Kind Regards,
Josh

PS: This project will not be taking time away from the A3XX Project which has priority, this is something I work on in spare time.

The 727 is now available at: http://www.github.com/Octal450/727-200.git

The FDM is extensively redone, and almost everything is changed/improved. Especially since ALL the geometry stuff was wrong in reference to the 3D model.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Some cockpit work was done,
Also,
I made major more FDM improvements, and the temporary AP now has most modes except AoA hold, and Speed by Pitch (real doesn't have either).

Kind Regards,
Josh

Since I've got more free time, I might give a small help with it. I used to love the 727 too and it's time to make it great again! ;)

Yup
My version now has a wiki page: http://wiki.flightgear.org/727-200

I almost completed the new Block V autopilot, which works quite realistically. The IAS/Mach mode needs a little work, but the other modes work great. Some real 727s with Block V had a GPS feeding them, so I have the Route Manager/GPS Driving the AUX NAV Roll Channel Mode! The weirdness of having G/S modes on the Roll Selector, and the extra HDG and ALT buttons are all present and accurately modeled (I hope). I will soon make the AP Indicator for the cockpit and make the FDs work, so the experience can be proper.

I flew on 727's many times in the 1970s and for anyone who remembers the famous hijacking where the hijacker put the rear stairs down and bailed out, the 727 became famous for having rear stairs.
Sorry I don't know how to do it, but thought I'd mention that the 727 rear stairs. The model here in Flightgear doesn't have these rear boarding stairs. Hopefully one of you developers will be able to put in the rear stairs that made the 727 famous, on the Flightgear 727.

Hi
I plan to making it work oneday, but I can't model exteriors of planes, only cockpits... so I have a guy working on the model. Hopefully it can be made.

Josh

Now Hydraulics is fully simulated, and D-ECHO is working on a OH-Panel, hopefully engineer coming soon. Also, fixed the ILS info on the AI

D-ECHO made a great new overhead, and I improved the hydraulics, then connected the hydraulic switches.

New JT8D-17R engines, also visible is the fixed center engine exhaust:

The only thing missing, is the internal reverser. I'll model that soon.

Also, the Super 27 is now included (Outer engines new JT8D-219, while the inner is still a JT8D-17R.)

And the JT8D-219 has the newer Bucket Style Reversers:

Question about the paint kit for the engines: which is the outside right, the outside left, and the inside? I can't adapt the liveries without knowing for sure which is which.

I added a layer which explains it.

Inner is the side of the engine closest to the fuselage, not inside the engine.

I'm working on construction lines on the fuselage if that's needed with everything important going on. I may also try to do a Northwest Orient if not tried yet....

Reworked the FDM, Autopilot, and more today. Also, added some nice more things.
