Vote for our next default airport! [2017.3]

Postby Parnikkapore » Sat May 27, 2017 9:50 am

It's voting time!
You will now have a direct opportunity to pick the next places we'll go to!
Note: For any future releases where nobody volunteers to organize a poll the next default airports will be chosen based on the order in this poll.

Candidates for our poll
VHXX: Honk Kong Kai Tak, China (closed)
(needs to be imported from: https://gitlab.com/fgradi/custom_scenery_VHXX )
Image

VHHH: Honk Kong International, China
Image

VTSP: Phuket International, Thailand
Image

PANC: Ted Stevens Anchorage International, Alaska
Image

LKPR: Václav Havel Prague, Czech Republic
Last second runner
Image

ZBAA: Beijing Capital international airport, China
Image

EGKK:London Gatwick | London's second biggest airport, a nice and large gateway to London's OSM2city magic.
Last third runner
Image

EDDI: Berlin Tempelhof
Image

FACT: Cape Town | The surrounding scenery is pretty close to reality - you have table mountain nearby, several other interesting ranges not so far
New proposal
Image

EGPF: Glasgow | The scenery to the north and west is pretty good, especially with autumn colours. It needs some WED work (to get the signs, etc).
New proposal

ZBAA need more love in my opinion, only Terminal 2 was made, need someone working on Terminal 3 and second tower.

So I suggest we should remove it from candidate airport until more building is finished.

"So I suggest we should remove it from candidate airport until more building is finished.": +1, ZBAA is kind of a big airport,as for completeness it needs a lot of buildings and objects to be a strong proposal. similar fate is FACT

the whole reason why i even suggested in the first place is specifically to get some 3D artists working on it so that it can be better and look nicer... if it is removed from consideration then it falls back to "out of sight, out of mind" and no one will work on it...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

like each blank or partially done airport just we need 1 or more to be involved. ZBAA has actually an old/generic layout, actual and new terminals or objects dont fit with the actual terrain, 3D artists need to work using regenerated layout like Terragit or other custom source and only if ZBAA is selected will be shipped with updated terrain. i started developing ZBAA some time ago, but im busy now so i cant continue the work, but if no one is working on it I'll do later, meanwhile i'll support other nearly finished proposals for next FG versions, but i want to see an asian airport for next default too. for me its ok to remain that proposal on the list, there isn't limits.

Is one your repo for ZBAA? https://github.com/mherweg/ZBAA-CustomScenery

I discovered that it more modern and some building needs developed.

While, I found your repo is good and updated, only some 3D developing is needed.

Because it wasn't suggested before the vote started - next time simply suggest it when suggestions are solicited and it'll enter the vote.

To those who voted Gatwick:

Please note that the 3D models will need re-adjusted with the latest layout (my first major job -- not very good!) -- the terminals, particularly South Terminal's north round sattelite, are offset from the "holes" in the layout! The cargo terminal is about 5m from the apron!

Thus, I reccomend LKPR or EGPF, particularly Glasgow, as it is fairly nice.

Unfortunately you can't revote...
(Prague is the current leader however, and there is still time to correct it!)
