Hi.
I found a strange thing (for me, I don't know if this thing looks strange for you or not). It's about dual A/P system. I found that the dual A/P system works on flight while the APPR mode doesn't activated. I thought, that dual A/P system can works only on APPR mode.
Just it from me.

Dual AP can be used anytime the pilots want to. Usually only one is used (except appr).

Thx for the explanation. And then, I want to ask a thing that always make me confused. The A/P should limit the climb and descent rate on FLCH mode, isn't it? 2400fpm for climb and at least -1500fpm for descent in the real world. But for me, the climb and descent rate on FLCH mode is bigger than the real one.

@Kristogratia

That does make any sense.

FLCH does not use a fixed clb/des.

For Climb, he uses climb thrust, and then holds speed by pitch. He gives you the best climb rate for the selected airspeed.
For Descend, he uses idle thrust, and then holds speed by pitch. He gives you the best descent rate for the selected airspeed.

Kind Regards,
Josh

THE END OF THE ROAD

ITAF VNAV has been removed. This change is as of Build 184, which should be out soon.

The A320 will include a custom IT-AUTOFLIGHT Controller which uses VNAV.

BTW, the default (FGADDON, I think) CRJ700 and its family, although it's a great aircraft, has a strange behavior autopilot. Wouldn't it be possible to use the IT-AUTOFLIGHT with those planes?

Yes.I actually made a CRJ700 with ITAF a while back, don't have a copy of it anymore tho.

I'd wait until V3.0.0 Stable, as I update ITAF rather alot.

Since we have the Q400 with this feature - is the technology factorizable into generic parts fed with parameters or does this have to be aircraft specific?

And if it's generic fed with parameters, should we commit this to FGData/Aircraft/Generic to avoid having to copy/paste code to multiple aircraft?

@Thorsten

The goal of this autopilot system was to make it able to be easily modified, and not have any aircraft specific parts.

My goal was to get the final build into FGDATA somehow, and then update the install instructions on the wiki accordingly. (See here)

I am getting close, still have a few things to sort out. (mostly logic)

Basically, there is some code to paste into the -set file for adjusting the parameters to adjust gains, scales, and P/I/D/min/max of various elements in the PropertyRule. Most of the time, you only need to adjust the Kp, Ti, and Td for the pitch and roll command, but sometimes further tuning is needed.

The reason for that code is that I can update many aircraft easily without requiring to readjust the parameters, also, it makes tuning in-sim much easier, as I've found the Debug --> Reload Autopilot to not always work quite right.

Planned changes for RC2:
New VOR/LOC from A3XX
New Flight Director Pitch from A3XX
New FPA from A3XX

I am targeting V3.0.0 FINAL by end of July, or earlier.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Okay - please give me a note when you need this committed to FGData.

Will do so. Thanks! (All GPL V2)

There is also another version designed for GA airplanes, could that be committed too?

Sure - whatever is generally useful for more than one plane and benefits from having to do maintenance on one file only qualifies.
