So I went to the blacklisted_site today to get something my wife wanted.

Apparently they needed some information I didn't have, so I put my hand in my pocket to get my mobile (cell) phone only to find I had brought out my wireless Apple Magic Mouse instead.

Huge laughter from the staff (and me - I expect it'll take a while before the leg-pulling stops).

Luckily I guessed the correct answers and purchased the correct item.

Everybody should have a mouse in their pocket. You never know, when it might come in handy.

If you want to get really fancy there are those compact slide presentation gizmos with laser pointer, mouse buttons and a tiny trackball. ;)

MAYDAY, MAYDAY !

Postby sim » Thu May 04, 2017 1:38 pm

May Day-May Day--Air Traffic Control Tower
An air traffic control tower suddenly lost communication with a small twin engine aircraft. A moment
later the tower landline rang and was answered by one of the employees.
The passenger riding with the pilot who lost communications was on a cellular phone.
The passenger yelled, “MAYDAY, MAYDAY ! My pilot just had an instant and fatal heart attack. I
grabbed his cell phone out of his pocket as he had told me before we took off that he had the tower on
his speed dial memory.
I am flying upside down at 18,000 feet and travelling at 180 mph. MAYDAY, MAYDAY! !
The employee in the tower immediately put him on speaker phone. "Calm down, we acknowledge you
and we'll guide you down after a few questions.
The first thing is not to panic. Remain calm.”
He then began his series of questions:
Tower: “How do you know you are traveling at 18,000 feet .
Aircraft: "I can see that it reads 18,000 feet on the altimeter dial in front of me."
Tower: "Okay, that’s good, remain calm. How do you know you’re traveling at 180 mph ?"
Aircraft: "I can see that it reads 180 mph on the airspeed dial in front of me."
Tower: "Okay, this is great so far, but it’s heavily overcast. So how do you know you’re flying upside
down ?"
Aircraft: “The shit in my pants is running out of my shirt collar.”

Great fix! 8) "If it looks stupid but works it isn't stupid." Those pesky little screws would be really hard to find if lost.

Glasses have twice gone "sproing" on me but I have had the luck of both having the screws not getting lost and, perhaps more importantly, the glass landing on something soft and where it was easy to find (I am quite near sighted). Also had a Victorinox with one of those tiny screw drivers in the cork screw on me so I could immediately screw them back.

Side note: I can see how you mistook you mouse for your phone if you was distracted or in a hurry. I though it was a phone on first sight.

I saw on YouTube that if you straighten the end ot a paper clip and hit it with a hammer that flat end is just the correct size for those tiny screws.

But that's no good if you can't find the screw post-sproing. Luckily the lens fell into my lap.

A pilot Father's discipline with love . . ..

Most people today think it improper to discipline children, so I have tried other methods to control my kids when they have had one of 'those moments.

Since I'm a pilot, one method that I have found very effective is for me to just take the child for a short flight during which I say nothing
and give the child the opportunity to reflect on his or her behavior.

I don't know whether it's the steady vibration from the engines, or just the time away from any distractions such as TV, video games, computer, iPod, etc.
Either way, my kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our flight together.

I believe that eye to eye contact during these sessions is an important element in achieving the desired results.

I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique.

Should work with grand kids too!

hahahahaha!! i love it! :)
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
