739 vers. 170 test. Sorry, a bit late - RL spring time called on weekend.

First flight using a flightplan with waypoints without alt restrictions didn't work very good - VNAV disengaged unpredictably after such wps, went to the backroom for some intense meeting with Cinncinati Kid, pushing VNAV again the speed went down to 130 kt. and some more strange things happened.

Second try with a cleaned up flightplan (only wps with restrictions) did okay - VNAV did a good job climbing & cruising. Descent (as expected) was a bit out a limits, had to reduce speed to 120 kt (be a stone, else you can't sink as one - Lao Tse), VNAV only once tried to stop working during GS, good autoland after reengaging.

Console had new variations on old themes:
--------------------------------------------
Reading sound sound from Path "D:/Dokumente/FlightGear/Aircraft/My Hangar/Aircraft/737-800/Sounds/737-sound.xml"
Neither a condition nor a property specified

Unrecognized value for /sim/presets/speed-set:
[443.0986040629882, 494.7629569914063]
-----------------

Some small things not related to IT-AF:
* AP window sometimes jumps around and changes position (and hides partly for ex. under canvas windows - this may be the normal strange FG windows management - eg. the route manager window loses some functions when it is opened in a non-fullscreened FG)
* 739 pulls right during all ground maneuvers
* the boarding music was great fun in its glorious cheeseness, but ran in an endless loop - announcement "2500 feet" stopped in the middle
* landing lights have two boxes in menu - but only right boxes engages them, left refuses to do any job
* btw: on ground AT engages right away, FD can be preselected, but AP can't, have to wait to 400 ft to engage it - this is meant to be that way?

Volume below 0 - as a musician, I am very interested in the physical and metaphysical background behind this error ... Greetings, I

OK...
Flyngo, the faster the IAS is, the faster it will descend in VNAV SPD mode (FLCH SPD!!!!)
It looks like it is not handling the altitude calculations correctly if the waypoints don't have restrictions -- I didn't have time to throughly test before I left for vacation, I'll do some testing and bugfixing tomorrow.

Do you mean the speed target when down to 130? or the current speed? if the current speed is the case, perhaps there is an issue with VNAV SPD PID controller.
Once G/S captures, VNAV should show: VNAV Command: NONE! and the ITAF PITCH box (right box in FMA) should show G/S. Can you confirm?

In terms of the 737-800 msgs not related to ITAF, you should discuss them with us in the 737-800 topic, as none of those errors are related to ITAF.

AP can't be preselected in the 737-800 until 400FT :)
AT goes into TOGA mode on the gnd, so does FD. This is correct.
The AP window follows FGFS GUI mechanics... I can't fix that stuff, sorry! (considering a Canvas ITAF dialog, which would make this very better)

EDIT: WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT: 737-900? we didn't model a 737-900!!!????? Only an -800

Sorry, typo, 738 738 738!!! :(

First flight: speed went down to 130 with VNAV SPD, AT commanded was 280. This happened when approaching a wpt without restrictions (cruising at FL180).

Second flight: Yes, I know about go faster to descent faster, I just wanted to try the other way round: command very low speed - didnt want to go over 250 kt under 10000 ft. Sort of worked.
And it had captured and read GS, then switched to ALT HLD by itself.

Oh alright.

Did it go to ALT HLD after G/S?
If so, then I need to change the VNAV disengage logic so it won't override G/S.

Thanks for your input. I've got quite the bug list to work on before I even start with the profile stuff.

OK,
no more ITAF Builds till I get home -- I just don't have the resources with this laptop to properly test ITAF...
I have a Build 171 in the works, which I think fixes some of this... but I must test some stuff myself.

See you next Sunday!

OK Status Update
I am almost complete with a Build 172, which has much much improved V/S, and FLCH PID systems. They are now really smooth, and don't jerk around when you put inputs in. They will be released soon as I test a little more.

VNAV:
I have locally fixed quite a few bugs, but the next version is NOT ready yet... Still stuff to do with VNAV PTH. Expect in Build 173-174 to get major VNAV updates.

Kind Regards.

OK That update is out, Please test FLCH mode!

I will work on VNAV in the meantime :)

Hi Josh,

very nice news, thanks.

As springtime real detailed weather is rather ugly over here, I see a big chance that I can do some FLCH experiments this weekend.

Best, Ingo

Nevermind!

That FLCH was RUBBISH

I making a new one right now, it's almost done. It works very better, especially in manual flight with Flight Director.

Thanks for the warning - was on the way to dl the 738.
So I'll wait and practise some unregulated GA crashes in the meantime :)

OK I've almost fixed it...

Wait for my signal to go ahead, again there was an issue.

Alright I scrapped that whole thing. It never worked right. I restored the old FLCH system, and it should be working now.

I fixed a small bug with VNAV, but I still need to repair the way it handles waypoints with no restrictions. I'll start VNAV PTH descent soon.

Kind Regards,
Josh

OK Guys
After alot of time, I finally redid ALT CAP/HLD, V/S, and FLCH. They should be very good now.

Please not that it is not perfect! I did as much testing as I could, however.

Now if that all turns out okay, I will continue work on VNAV PTH, and Logic.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Again improved FLCH and TOGA Guidance. TOGA now limited in pitch and fpm target when wheels on ground, this prevents it from overreacting to the acceleration. Now it is very smooth.
