FlightGear's screenshot of the month: January 2017

Postby dg-505 » Mon Jan 02, 2017 1:33 pm

Hello and welcome to the monthly screenshot contest, this time for January 2017!

Participation Rules
1. 15 entries (because a poll can only have 15 options)
2. Only one entry per person to give everyone a fair chance of submitting a screenshot.
3. You may enter one extra for somebody else. This person of course can submit their own candidate.
3.1. If you submit a screenshot of another person, please make sure he/she grants you the right to publish it under the correct license!
4. Please convert your picture from png to jpg (plenty of converters online).
5. Has to be taken with FlightGear.
6. Every picture should have a caption.
7. Screenshots must not be post-processed except from cropping and/or resizing (but you may use the in-sim ALS filters).
8. You may change your entry as often as you want, until the voting starts.
9. You agree to license your screenshot under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license for publication by the FlightGear project.

Voting will start when 15 entries are reached or at the latest on January 25, in a seperate topic.

Have fun
Jonathan :)

The picture is way cool - but what kind of lift gets you there above the clouds? There's no ridge, and even if you have figured out how to use the wave lift code there's nothing to generate the wave in the vicinity.

Looking over the last year, we always seem to favour exterior shots. Now, I don't know about you - but 95% of the time when I use FG, I see the cockpit.

So how about we try for some more really stunning cockpit shots for the gallery?

"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

May I suggest a change to the rules, for licensing:

9. You agree to license your screenshot under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license for publication by the FlightGear project. If you submit a picture for someone else this does not apply. If publication is made the author will be asked for agreement before.

Just because you can't really agree to license someone other's image...

Thanks for organizing this, btw!! It's always much fun

In response to the lack of cockpit entries...

On a side note, does FGFS reduce visibility (fog/haze) to keep the frame rates up? I never seem to be able to get as much visibility as I used to (using Advanced Weather).
