I have just released a bug-fix version 2016.4.2 which is available for download here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/flight ... se-2016.4/
This update fixes
- The Mac crash during startup on some machines
- The startup at SBRJ if no location selected (now correctly at LSZH)
- Some minor launcher issues regarding multiplayer and variants
Detailed changelog is available here:
https://sourceforge.net/p/flightgear/fl ... log/?path=

Also how do I set the option to see my frames per second? thanks

Just add your custom scenery in the addon tab of the launcher. You can drag/drop them in the right order (top to bottom, keep terrasync folder last).

How do I add my custom scenery? Not where.....what is the process?
Also, Is that where I drop my saved scenery from terramaster, also? I download from terramaster often since I leave terrasync off for some of my custom scenery to show.
What about the specific textures for custom scenery and OSM 2City, OSMRoads and Project 3000? Where and how do I do all this now?

**EDIT** It's NOT letting me drag and drop my folders there. Should I drop/copy them into the "scenery" file in FGData? Some of the scenerys aren't accessed through just being in the "Scenery" folder either. The FGRun has to have the line written...

BEL ISAAK wrote in Wed Nov 23, 2016 4:31 pm:You can show the frame rate in sim via 'view' > 'view options' > tick 'show frame rate'. The option will be saved for your next session.

Thank you, it looks like my fps has improved but I want to confirm that. If so the new download was worth it.

How do I connect Jmapview to this version?
Any thoughts on having a mapview type of feature in future versions?

Swwon, you must add scenery via the + button. The drag and drop is only for reordering.
There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.

Understood, but isn't dropping them in the scenery file through " C:/Programs/FG2016.4.1/Data/Scenery" the same?

Or do I do what I described 1st; then list them as you instructed in order from that Data/Scenery folder? Right now the custom scenery is sitting in the scenery file on my last version 2.1, so bring them over, correct?

What about the terramaster file, do I have to include that in this method as well?

Thank you guys for all your help.

In Sim Menu -> Environment -> Weather -> Check "Detailed Weather" -> Click "Advanced Settings" -> change Wind Model to something that isn't Aloft Interpolated.

As far as I know, modern versions of FlightGear look for scenery in this order:

1- whatever you configure in the scenery path of the launcher, in the order you specify in the launcher. Add here the custom scenery you downloaded manually or using terramaster. Do not add here terrasync or FG2016.4.1/Data/Scenery
2- the terrasync folder. This folder is probably checked even if you don't have terrasync activated right now, but you downloaded scenery using terrasync in the past!
3- the FG2016.4.1/Data/Scenery folder

The search continues until FlightGear finds a .btg file (terrain). If only .stg files are found (buildings and vehicles), they are loaded and the search continues. This is highly convenient, since custom sceneries do not have to include large terrain files if they don't need to.

I don't think you can change this order easily. This is why it is I strongly advice against copying custom scenery to FG2016.4.1/Data/Scenery: it is going to be the last place to search and it is going to be overridden next time you install FligthGear.

Custom scenery must be in any other folder (for example, your Documents/FlightGear/Scenery) This way, you can use custom scenery AND terrasync, since terrasync is going to be checked after your custom scenery and only if you don't have any custom scenery for your location.

I basically agree with what you (ludomotico) said. It is correct that the TerraSync directory is always implicitly added to the list of scenery paths, however it is possible to explicitly list it among other scenery paths(*), and the order in this case is always respected.

On the command line, $FG_ROOT/Scenery (what you called “FG2016.4.1/Data/Scenery”) is only implicitly added as the last scenery path if no --fg-scenery option was given (the $FG_SCENERY environment variable also counts). The built-in launcher, on the other hand, always adds this path as the last scenery path.

Unless one has very specific needs, I agree that there are two equivalent setups that make sense:
  • only list custom sceneries, or;
  • list them first, followed by the TerraSync directory, itself optionally followed by $FG_ROOT/Scenery (the latter being currently inexistent in FGData, thus probably only useful for people using the base package and not TerraSync).
This is the current situation in the code unless I read something incorrectly. Small details might change in the future, but the fact that the TerraSync directory can be explicitly listed among other scenery paths is and that the order is preserved is intentional as far as I know, so this rule is, in my opinion, unlikely to change.

(*) If done in the list that can be set from the built-in launcher, this would correspond to --fg-scenery=the-TS-dir on the command line among other --fg-scenery options.

I can't get past the Scenery Loading in the splash screen.
This is with TerraSync disabled.

I will make further tests tomorrow when I have time again.

You can try directly 2017.1.0-nightly here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/flightgear/files/unstable/ It fit pretty good on Sierra
