Single throttle lever usable without yoke/joystick

Postby flycanarias » Sat Nov 05, 2016 12:10 pm

Hey guys, does someone know about a throttle lever/quadrant that I can use without a yoke or joystick?
My problem is, that I'm left handed, and have a joystick without specified "right-handed" grip.
So I just want to use a nice Throttle, and keep my joystick in use!
Is that possible?

P.S.: should be plug and play, because I use OSX

The Saitek Throttle Quadrant is the only one that comes to my mind.

(Disclaimer: even though - by looking at the FlightGear sources - it should be supported, I haven't used it).

The Saitek "Pro Flight Quadrant", if it is still sold, could fit the bill. It has three levers and three two way (i.e. 6 push) buttons and each lever has a push button past its lower stop. There is a config file for it shipped with FG (not sure if the config file has been tested on Mac, though).

There are two versions of this quadrant: the one sold in a bundle with the Saitek Yoke and the standalone.

Just be sure you buy the standalone version. It includes a USB cable.

The bundled version has a proprietary port and it can only be plugged to the Saitek Yoke.

Allright, thank you very much..

When I should perhaps get the Saitek yoke in a bundle with the quadrant sometime, can I still use the other quadrant at the same time with the other??

It is supposed to be possible to use several quadrants together, but I have never tried it.
At worst they'd look the same to the system making it slightly inconvenient to map each one to its configuration file (it might need to be assigned by the device number and, additionally, some systems doesn't enumerate the devices in the same order on each reboot).

I just noticed this conversation. I also wanted to use my Saite k quadrant with a joystick . I have the Saite k yoke but generally use a joystick thing flying an aircraft which has a stick. I tried using a PS2 to US B converter plug straight into the computer US B socket but that doesn't work . I know that there are Saite k quadrants that have a US B plug. Can that work straight into the computer? Or is that just for plugging into the US B socket on the yoke, so as to add another quadrant for controlling multi-engine planes? Does the quadrant need power and driver only from the yoke?

My Saitek Pro-Flight Quadrant with USB plug, which I bought as a standalone item, works without any yoke. For the quadrant bundled with the yoke I don't know if it can be plugged in separately.
