I'm having trouble determining if I have this installed correctly.

Can you verify for me what objects/models were added to KICT, what should I be seeing.

Is any of this added to terrasync?

Thank you for testing!
If installed correctly than you'll see a tower, some hangars and lights:

@wlbragg: Info at first post, i think anything was added to terrasync from this project, but better so because a lot of objects will overlap the existing ones.

Nice, thank you!

I originally didn't go to the wiki and see
Code: Select all
--fg-scenery=/path/to/project3000

I tried to put the data into the default fgdata scenery folders. I'm not really sure if that worked or didn't work because I have osm2city buildings and may not have noticed the new objects. But it is working per the instructions.

Next question is there anyway to make it play nice with osm2city or terrasync for that matter (the overlap)?

That may be a better question to ask of the osm2city crew.

how ? did you overwrite the stg files - then you can loose objects. or did you merge/concatenate stg files with the same name ?

I keep everything in separated scenery folders with --fg-scenery= : one folder for project3000,
one folder for osm2city, ...

as long as the folders have no Terrain tiles the objects from all folders will be loaded.
If a folder has terrain, make it the last in the list.

osm2city has a overlap detection. it does not work in all cases.
I currently do not plan to add such a feature to the project3000 software.

you did build your own terrain for the KICT area, right ?
do you already use the latest layout from the gateway ?

No I don't think there was anything in that Scenery folder by default. It's the one in fgdata. There were no matching stg files.

I keep everything in separated scenery folders with --fg-scenery= : one folder for project3000,
one folder for osm2city, ...

That is how I have it now.

So maybe if I rebuild osm2city after adding the project3000 data I can eliminate the overlaps?

Yes, I built the entire state.
I'm not sure I have the very latest, I recall some kind of an update to KICT on x-plane but I am not sure if it was a user add-on or actually submitted to the gateway.

well, then you have to, at least temporarily merge the stg files because osm2city only checks
one scenery source folder (PATH_TO_SCENERY) for overlap with _STATIC_(!) models.

I overlooked that _STATIC_ detail until now. Project3000 objects are shared, not static. You can change that if you like:
edit the stg file and move the lib folder into the Objects/w100n30/w098n37/ folder.

What I did a few times is to lookup the building's OSM ID on openstreetmap.org:
e.g.
http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/48234728
and add that number to the
SKIP_LIST = [48234728, 55875208]

Is it possible for the next version/update specify which new airports have been added? It would be great to know. Thanks and great project! I want to develop Ingoldstadt-Manching (one of these populated objects, where you had taken shots), to have a beautiful complete airport in FG with hand-made buildings too.

As one of the osm2city maintainers I wonder, whether we should have a clear line between Project3000 and osm2city. With clear line I mean geometric areas, where Project3000 generates stuff and osm2city keeps away. One of the reasons being that at least buildings from osm2city might make it soon to Terrasync - and airports from Project3000 might go the same way. But then relying on overlap detection [which btw has improved lately - otherwise show me problems] is not ideal (as it is not ideal neither for users generating their own areas).

So: is the underlying data pulled from the x-plane gateway adhering to geometries defined in apt.dat, such that osm2city just could be configured to just keep out of certain geometries in apt.dat?
