FlightGear 2016.3.1 "Rio de Janeiro" released

Postby Torsten » Mon Sep 12, 2016 8:41 pm

Hi everybody

with a little delay I have just released FlightGear 2016.3.1!

Installers for Windows and OSX as well as source tarballs of FlightGear and SimGear are available from
our SourceForge project at https://sourceforge.net/projects/flight ... se-2016.3/

Those files are the same as the release-candidate files but with the -rc in their names being removed. I case you downloaded the release candidates, there is no need to download these files again.

Enjoy FlightGear 2016.3.1 and the stunning Rio scenery. Thanks to everybody who made this release possible. It's an honor to be part of this team!

There's the 2016.3 changelog (even though it's still a draft).

Clean install in clean windows 10 VM is coming up with "The program can't start because MSVCR100.dll is missing from your computer"

I can't remember if we normally include the MS C++ redistributable dll, but it's available from MS (vcredist_x64.exe in my case)

Is the black consol windo completely gone now??? It was useful for seeing paths of missing stuff and errors.

That would be a dealbreaker for me, I need it to develop.

Use FFGo or run FG from the console. Only workarounds right now.

Try running from the Windows powershell, and try out some IO redirection ;)

Workarrounds are no good. I usuallr run with the consol permanently of because 99% of my FG time is development. I want less hatsle, not more.

--console was removed, so if you don't wanna launch via console or use a different launcher, then I guess you're out of luck with 2016.3.1. Although, I agree, removing it was a dumb decision.

StuartC, I haven't found anything fgrun can do that the in game launcher can't do and I was a fan of fgrun.
