Help to set up FGo!

Postby Zequinha » Tue May 31, 2016 12:06 am

Hi all,

I am having trouble setting up FGo using arch linux. I got the following settings

Path to executable file:
fgfs
FG_ROOT:
/usr/share/games/flightgear/
FG_SCENERY:
/usr/share/games/flightgear/Scenery
Additional aircraft path:
/usr/share/games/flightgear/Airgraft

When I save the setting it shows an error message:
Cannot find apt.dat database.

What am I doing wrong?

what version of fgfs are you running?
you speak of FGo but this is the FGRun subforum... are you looking for FGRun help or FGo help?
the path to fgfs doesn't look to be complete...
you have at least one typo in the above...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Thanks,

I need help for fgo: I couldn't find a forum section for fgo so I posted here on FGrun. I've set my settings:

/usr/bin/fgfs

/usr/share/games/flightgear/

/usr/share/games/flightgear/Scenery

/usr/share/games/flightgear/Aircraft

But it still wont work saying 'cannot find apt.dat database'. Any idea what could be wrong?

Hello,

The FGo! forum thread is here. You could have found it using the forum search at the top (the thread is not lively, and thus not in the first page...).

You can try to remove the trailing '/' in '/usr/share/games/flightgear/', but I doubt this is the cause of the error. Are you sure you have the file /usr/share/games/flightgear/Airports/apt.dat.gz and it is readable? If not, your installation is broken.

Sorry for posting it on the wrong section of the forum.

The problem was that the paths were wrong.
I post the right ones in case anyone finds them useful. So here we go for my arch linux install:

Path to executable file:
/usr/bin/fgfs
FG_ROOT:
/usr/share/flightgear/data
FG_SCENERY:
/usr/share/flightgear/data/Scenery
Additional aircraft path:
/usr/share/flightgear/data/Aircraft
