Hi all, I've been away from FG for a very long time and was wondering if anyone had a link to the most up to date Tomcate livery template? Has its been a while since I've used FG you have to forgive as I'm a bit rusty........Thanks

Welcome back! :D

[edit]
While there is a few in the livery database, they might be a bit old.

As forum searches can be a bit cranky at times try this Google search string f-14 livery liveries site:forum.flightgear.org.

Um, livery template was the question...

There currently seem to be a need for one. I do not find one in the repository.

By the way, if you have a rather recent FlightGear installed, do try Richards improved F-14 (also on FGAddon, in your days a part of FGData), I hear it is very popular. ;)

There is also a small team doing air combat in slightly modified aircraft among them a F-14, the KSUU Crew.

By any chance, does anyone one have the B52 Italic font? Need it for the squadron numbers but all the ones I've tried to download are charged. Many thanks

@ Richard: It might be a good idea to have the complete paintkit in the aircraft package together with some instructions. That way there will be more liveries made than if the paintkit is harder to find. ;)

I do not believe in adding artwork etc. to the flying package; last time I checked there was around 800 mb shared between the F-14 and F-15.

Instead I'll add a note to the in the liveries folder.

That will most probably work just as well. :) My point was more or less that a curious user should be able figure it out by looking around in the aircraft folder.

Has the texture reduced in size? I always thought it was a 2014 x 2014 but it's a 1024 x 1024 or the equivalent. I've added new decals but when I've resized them you can't really see what they say. Not a massive problem but just wondered.

Make your one big enough to fit whatever you need, either 2048x2048 or 4096x4096. I reckon decals should be readable; especially with the walker.

It's the texture file itself (not the template) that has the resolution. Each texture file can be a different (power of two) resolution.

Now I tend to keep my source material at 4096 and reduce it down before (or after) exporting to a reasonable size.

Ah yes, it's all coming back to me now. Well, my main aim is to make the Tomcat look like it's been through some action and spent time at sea......so a very weathered look to it. Going for two schemes, 80s and 90s. Referencing is done by using walk around pictures from the net and the website called Home of MATS.
