[promo] Video challenge: 2016.1 release

Postby Hooray » Fri Feb 19, 2016 1:52 pm

Hi, would any of you be interested in coming up with one, or more, youtube videos for promoting recent FlightGear developments - e.g. some of those detailed at: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Changelog_2016.1

The corresponding videos would be included in the changelog/release announcement on the wiki and possibly also on the official main website, and/or the project's sourceforge page (not my call though)

We already have a number of videos created during the last 12 months, so it may also be possible to reuse some of those (for starters, we could collect some of those videos by going through the last 12 newsletters, and reposting the videos here)

I would suggest to look at videos like this one:

Things to highlight may for example include:
  • new/improved aircraft
  • new/improved airports/scenery
  • new/improved UI (Qt5/Phi etc)

If there's more than person/group of people interested in helping with this, please try to coordinate your goals/focus using this thread (e.g. by stating the aircraft/airports you are going to cover in your video)

For the sake of simplicity, it may also be a good idea to use flight plans and/or fgtapes to reproduce certain flight segments, e.g. for different camera angles (think fgcamera).

Suggested guidelines are detailed at: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Howto:Creati ... omo_Videos

thank you, looking good - please keep posting such videos, so that we can add them to the wiki and use them in the release announcement/changelog

Not exactly the best since it was a rushed job, made entirely with 2016.1.0

Not too good a frame rate, but I do like the look of the clouds

Though I say it myself, and it doesn't appear so in the video, I am very proud of that landing, since it is my best ever manual approach and landing in any aircraft.

Another one from a while ago:

Do apologize for frame rate / graphics -- I took these for my own enjoyment, not for this challenge.
