Gilberto, you are killing me! Stop! Let me take a breath!

I am simply amazed, as always at the quality.

What airport did you take those shots at?

How do I install this aircraft? I downloded the zip from the git repository and extracted it. But when I run FG, all I get is a basic blue and yellow 3D box model.. not the gorgeous one show in the pictures.

make sure you remove the '-master' from the folder name when you extract it. The folder name needs to be the same as the <aircraft>-set.xml minus the -set.xml part. Does that makes sense? :P

Yes.. it worked!
Thanks a lot.
Maybe those instructions should be included in the git repository page?

those are standard instructions for all craft downloaded from the github repository... also, it won't always be "-master" that has to be removed... "master" simply signifies the branch in the repository... if you were to change branches to (eg) bug-42 and download a snapshot archive, you'd have to remove "-bug-42" from the directory name...

other repositories may use the same convention... or not...

"Why not?" said Gurder.

It is the default model. It is shown when FlightGear do not find an aircraft model on your computer. Usually this would happen in multiplayer when you do not have someone else's aircraft installed.

The path to the model that FlightGear will use as default can be found in the property "/sim/multiplay/default-model". It would be either an .ac (AC3D) file or an model/animation configuration xml file. Some people (me included) change this in one of the many ways one can set up a property.

I'm afraid it doesn't work this way... When this method works, it is only by sheer luck. See http://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=27894&p=280754#p280754.

After reading the ALS technical notes (which does mention this model) I realized it's not in FGAddon.
Is there a reason for that?

@erik: have you tried emailing gilbert, yet? the email link in his profile should still work if the account is still valid... otherwise, you might try to contact him through the c172p dev repo but i don't know how to find someone's email or contact address over there :(
