Thanks Jonathan. The worst part was the month I spent in that awful hospital bed. It was the worst thing I ever slept in. But the hospital food was better than some good restaurants. My recovery was far better than they expected. I'm 50 and there were people much younger than me who didn't have it to the secarity that I did and they didn't recover as well as I did.

I'm looking forward to learning the sim. I'm thinking that if I use the same settings in nVidia Inspector as I did for IL2, I should get good results since IL2 is also OpenGL. I've been increasing the settings within FlightGear and so far so good with frame rates. The GTS 250 is my backup card and it seems to be handling it well.

I'll post results and screenshots in the appropriate thread.

Thanks again

Hello Bob!
That's very good -- although sad about the others.
That's great! Enjoy the sim -- do you want some aircraft suggestions?
If you could tell me what general type, I could find you some nice ones :)

Hi Jonathan

I like the 777 that ships with it. It looks great inside and out. I downloaded theomegahangar A330-200. I really like the gear animations. I've bought tons of add-ons for the other sim and not one single A330 add-on has that quite right. I'm really happy to see that FlightGear does. I also downloaded the A320 NEO because the A330 is looking for the EFIS in the A320 folder. That's fine because I like the A320 as well. The truth is that I don't think there is a single commercial liner that I don't like. I have the 757 as well but have not tried it yet.

I've also been experimenting with the scenery. I've had great success by creating a TM folder for Terrain Master and a WS for World Scenery to keep things separate. Within the TM folder, I created an Objects folder and a Terrain folder. I extract them to the Terrain folder and the Objects folder. Then I delete all the .gz files from the objects folder leaving the .stg files to save HDD space. I've a few different ways to install the TerraMaster scenery including using the scenery installer with no luck. It seems the seem must have the Objects folder with the .stg files in their respective W folders(w070n40) for example. That's been working great and I'm no stranger to alternative add-on and mod installs. The world scenery already has the two folders setup like that so that just works. Then I move the TM or WS folder to the top of the list on the Select Path screen depending on which scenery I'm using.

That's great! You seem to have it all figured out.
I would reccomend you try the 707 if you are looking for a challenge -- it is really well done. Pressurization and all. Every switch works as far as I know.

(Or maybe it comes with FlightGear)

Yeah the 707 is one of my faves. My landing was a little long but I didn't overshoot. I'll be adding some liveries to that one. Thanks for the suggestion. I really like it.

OK G/S worked this time. Very nice. I think for now I'll stick with ALS instead of rembrandt. It's a bit much for the GTS 250. Much better landing this time. Thanks again for the suggestion. A hanger is not a hanger until it has some vintage models in it.

That's great! Yes, ALS is certainly much better than Rembrandt.
(If you'd like another suggestion, I would try the Douglas DC-3, or perhaps the Lockheed 1049h. The latter needs caution due to engine fires at high engine temperatures)

LOL !! You're like me. Yes the DC-3 is next on my things to download. Probably the DC-6 after that then the Connie. The DC-6 was known to get hot too if the cowl flaps weren't managed properly. I tell ya what I would like to see is the B377.

Hmm, B377, I'll have to have a look.

'Fraid not, but there is a 314.

There's a B377 at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/125 ... angar.html

You'll also need the DavePack. Don't expect a lot of interior detail. Do expect a plane that's easy to fly and won't tax your video card.

Oh man I'm liking the DC-3 / C-47. That's a sweet ride. The sounds are very well done too.

I'm happy because my Dad found Ace washing powder -- first time we've seen it in months :)
Hurrah!
Not to mention an awful lot of other things.

FGPromo is almost done, final cut already. Oscar has been working on some amazing music, and with Lydiot working on audio, you've got a killer promotional video!
