Here it is. Would be nice to see our FG DC-3 also with a turbo-prop version.

I posted that YT video of Lydia's rescue earlier, amazing recovery and considering the cost, number of personnel involved, and time frame, these planes must have a great value.

When Micheal Palin's 'Pole to Pole' adventure aired, the South Pole route part of his adventure required him and his camera crew to wait around at the Antarctic 'airfield' south of Terra Del Fuego while they dug out a Pilatus Porter from last year's snow storm.

I was reading that while a regular DC-3 isn't expensive (relatively speaking), these airplanes that make to Antarctica are so heavily modified that they can cost 10 times more, so this effort was indeed economically sound. Really an amazing story!

PS: I am very tempted in creating two Lydia livery for our DC-3, one before the crash and one with the green nose ;)

if there's a Lydia livery, there should be one for her sister, Mia, too ;) the two craft are named after the (ALCI?) owner's two daughters...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

EDIT: they should soon be available at http://liveries.flightgear.org/index.php, I will report here as well as in the livery subforum when that happens.

When Rolls Royce was developing the Dart Turbo-shaft, the first aircraft they tried them in were DC-3's. They were an immediate success and were used as demonstrators for the engines at various airshows in the early 1950's.
