Updating FlightGear Wikipedia Article -- WIP

Postby legoboyvdlp » Thu Oct 01, 2015 10:30 pm

I just added some new programs (OPENRADAR, ATC-PIE, WED) to the article and many new screenshots of FlightGear at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FlightGear#Gallery.
Anyone else is welcome to help.

Nice, this article needs a lot of work and improved and expanded descriptions have long been needed.

Thanks for including the F-15; but F-15's don't operate from carriers so in the sense of realism I think it'd be better to replace that image.

@bugman, welcome, and rememeber anyone can help!
Possibly you could (or others) extend the History section? I know pretty little about prior 3.0.
@Richard, copy.
If so, why does it have the hook and launch capability?
I guess, shared from F-14?
Will replace with -14....

The hook is there for emergency landings on land, e.g. using a BAK 12

It's got launch because the F-15 has a lot of shared code with the F-14 and I couldn't quite bring myself to remove the launch capability as it seemed mean. Maybe I should to avoid such confusion.

I think we need to sort out our wiki history sections first (in the FlightGear History and FGAddon articles). The history section in the Wikipedia article should however be quite short and concise. In the dedicated FlightGear History article is where the details should go, as that can be hugely expanded.

Hmm, it maybe should be mentioned that WED is a X-Plane project, but that we also use it since we contribute to the same data set. :wink:
