Hi Israel,

I trust you have the knowledge to correctly pull this off. so i suggest you keep us in the loop for the best course of action when we achieve what's stated above.

again, thank you all, and i wish to also partake in this effort, any thoughts on working and improving the cockpit and display systems? nothing in particular comes to mind, but i suggest we add a light map, similar to what Gijs brought to the 744, and a complete makeover with Canvas, sounds too good? :D

I can do lightmaps :)

... Canvas is still in a foreign language for me. ...
Hopefully D-JSB speaks it

Now on the technical side of this

1. Rebasing is good.
2.. Merging should not be done. Period. The git-svn system still has caveats, and FGAddon remains a SVN weirdness...
we don't want to risk messing their history.
3. In my opinion the optimum approach is neither rebasing nor merging, but creating a new commit that works like an "squashed"commit on the SVN FGAddon, but it brings the repo not only up2date but identical to that of the FGMEMBERs content.

The suggestion 3 is basically

1. Clear out the directory on the FGAddon
2. Copy the content from FGMEMBERs into the FGAddon
3. Commit : a single commit with a title such as "Squashing FGMEMBERs status in commit 526a50" or something of the like
and
4. Push

This way, the FGAddon content becomes identical to that of the indicated commit, with a single one clean commit

Keep in mind that FGMEMBERs will then take that commit downstream, and if done that way, the commit will exist with "empty" content. Which just imitates a merge commit in some ways... (the good ones).

Just a suggestion,
IH-cOL

I read your words but I see only *wah wah wah* - e.g. I am lost... ;)

sure! there are currently no overlapping efforts involving Canvas for the project, so your free to take it on. just keep us updated on your progress(communication is key), also, i intend to help in this area as well, although i have no prior experience with it too.

i suggest we keep development on FGMEMBERS, as that allows each of us to have there own fork, and release on FGADDON.

i'll start by providing info for the FMC, which is said to be the Rockwell Collins FMC4200. any documents for that is appreciated. only post free content publicly, as some of these are company belongings.

I wish I'd taken photos in my visit in '10 to a cockpit, but sadly I didnt.
But, I'll start by making a fork canvasdevel or something on github... Actually, I dont have my pc right now till wednesday so i can't do anything besides make a fork!

that's easy... the request was made in the dev list and those who deigned to respond as requested did so... those who didn't have not been given permissions (yet)... makes sense, yes? ;)
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

yes, it does.. i wasn't clear on the exact procedure for migrating :) it was more of a curiosity on my part. anyone able to re-instate his rights, providing i get his account and permission? also, we might want to look for introducing D-JSB into the group, what do you suggest the best course of action?

Thanks

How about just creating a branch in the repos? "canvas" sounds like a fair name.
AFAIK... all here interested can write FGMEMBERs repositories already.
