MD-12 Development

Postby Turnit » Thu Jun 25, 2015 5:34 pm

I'm hoping to start working on the MD-12. The other projects I started a few weeks ago I lost interest in, so I found this aircraft that interests me. This aircraft was never actually built, but I would like to modeled it in Flight Gear. I need help with the programming part of things, I can handle the modelling part probably. We could probably modify the A380 or AN-225 FDM, this plane is about the same size as those, or start from scratch.

A little info on the MD-12: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonnell_Douglas_MD-12

There is already a MD-12 for FG, take a look here: http://presteshangar.wikidot.com/ maybe you could improve it if you ask the author.

this aircraft was actually made GPL by Prestes, and the gitorious repository of his was mirrored on FGMEMBERS before gitorious went caput

https://github.com/FGMEMBERS/MD-12

Feel free to pull requests with improved versions to FGMEMBERS.
GPL stays GPL there

Best,
IH-COL

did you rename the folder after unzipping?

example

MD-12-master should become MD-12

I doubt it. It could be the plane is broken. I'll check.

COL, check if the model file name and path has the same capitalization. Macs and Linux make that difference and we have always this little glitch when a plane was developend on a Windows machine.

@Turnit, @JWocky

Yes. Ive just checked.
No. The problem was not on a capitalization
The problem was a malformed Models/MD-12.xml file because it lacked the header
<xml version=1.0?> to have a properly formated file.

After correcting that the aircraft shows fine in FG.
The model is very early beta development thou.

Best,
IH-COL

I may just put that into the programming or just wait till it gets a little more developed and try again.

Update:
I went and checked the xml file, and it does start with the <?xml version="1.0"?>
