No, I didn't. I said you should contact f-ojac to see if he can directly add your models, bypassing the forms. ;-)

Using the same texture on multiple models is fundamentally impossible with the way the database currently works. It is not a limitation of the forms.

Ahh, my bad.

Hmm, but I've seem many airports from terrasync with similar textures on the buildings - does that mean there're copies of textures there? Isn't that a waste of space? :|

omega95 wrote in Fri Aug 09, 2013 12:08 pm:That reminds - Gijs directed me to you to talk about developing a mass model upload system for the scenerydb.

Yes, that's true. ot-666 also asked me for it. That's why I'm for now recommending to push models asap at the start of the project, 'cause I have no tool to mass import models.
omega95 wrote in Fri Aug 09, 2013 12:08 pm:Also, what about having separate airport folder's for models specific to it? That way, the uploads can be easier.

Static models are stored with their respective tiles, not within a specific model folder. The scenery DB is DB architectured, with a lot of pros and some cons.
omega95 wrote in Fri Aug 09, 2013 12:08 pm:Re-uploading texture files would be pointless, don't you think?

Well, not pointless, but size-costly and not optimized. However for now I have no other solution. Having common textures would mean to have a specific table with all shared textures. This doesn't exist for now.

Right, but we can make one.

It's on the to-do list on the website, along with quite some other things. The most important was the model update form, this item was just closed this week.

Well, either way I still can't put most of the models yet because they aren't complete. I haven't started night textures yet. Just put up some rembrandt light poles for lighting. And every (so far) building at the airport has windows that should light up at night, so nothing's really ready for terrasync yet...

Not sure if you missed this, but -

omega95 wrote in Fri Aug 09, 2013 12:08 pm:won't it be a problem because the old layout in Singapore is incorrect and parts of the buildings and gates will be in the wrong position. I submitted my layout to Robin (didn't get a reply though ) but then when it does get to him, won't it be included only in the next scenery build? And I'm using custom-scenery shapefiles for the area too.

Submit your models/objects according to the 850 terrain, it will be the terrain used in the next generation terrain build (we don't yet know when). The custom scenery shapefiles is not a problem however.

Good luck for the rest of your work.
