really? fgmembers as a scenery repo thing aside from it being a private craft repo??
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Yes really.

You call his a private craft repo? That is just silly. Every plane in FGADDON is in FGMEMBERS as well as any other gpl plane Isreal found. And it is a choice- every flightgear user has a choice to use it or not,
I dont see the need for this stupid arguing.

No, that's what it is - it's neither officially endorsed nor supported.

Since edits to aircraft on this repository happen outside the knowledge of the original aircraft maintainer and/or the core development community, Israel needs to organize your support in case of any problems.

Private or not private is perhaps not that important, unless used in the context of being official or unofficial. The FGAddon is the official aircraft repository. Slightly more important is that the FGMEMBERS repository has more than just one administrator, in essence a whole team are working with it, not only IAHM-COL.

Dear Lego
Yes.
Scenery can be made as git repositories as well.

Currently I am considering making a FGMEMBERS-SCENERY area.
It would fetch from the SVN of terrasync and merge downstream.
Then It would allow

1. Add xml config files with ease
Like tower files, groundnet files, jetways files etc

2. Add more 3d models, if agreed with GPL release. It will fetch from terrasync, thus all those will be included

3. Replace Airport layout, before they are imported with X-PLANE, or even FG exclusive layouts --it requires building the patch with terragear, and include the surrounding airports properly!

4. Patch with GPL Scenery packages

So we will gain largely a lot of flexibility

At this point it is critical to wait for the next generation of scenery.
There is no point to import the scenery in current status. As you remember there are many airports with elevation issues that makes them underwater or underterrain... so, a little patience with the terrain generators here

:)

Best,
IH-COL

If we gave everybody in the World free software today, but we failed to teach them about the four freedoms, five years from now, would they still have it? Probably not, because if they don’t recognise their freedoms, they’ll let their freedoms fall

Dear Thorsten
More frequently than not I am remember you of the GPL letter.

I guess law-based texts give you a headache, and you can't follow the print.
So I quote:
https://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/gpl-2.0-standalone.html
GPL2 wrote:NO WARRANTY

11. BECAUSE THE PROGRAM IS LICENSED FREE OF CHARGE, THERE IS NO WARRANTY FOR THE PROGRAM, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. EXCEPT WHEN OTHERWISE STATED IN WRITING THE COPYRIGHT HOLDERS AND/OR OTHER PARTIES PROVIDE THE PROGRAM "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE PROGRAM IS WITH YOU. SHOULD THE PROGRAM PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION

I do not know if FGAddon provides a more inclusive Warranty than this, but FGMEMBERs sticks to the GPL letter.
We (I) allow modifications. We (I) Provide no Warranty.

I hope it clarifies.

That will be useless for me, as I cant run 2.0 scenery, but it should wprk for everyone else :) but im talking about packages, not terrasync.

Yes,
That sounds like a doable beginning

I can create FGMEMBERS-SCENERY and we can begin by collecting Scenery patches

1. just make your repo on you own Github area
2 Let me know and I fork.

3. Did you got the invitation to join the organization? I think I send it yesterday.
Once you are in, you will have write access to FGMEMBERS fork too, and you can either remove your own and keep working over FGMEMBERs or just keep working on your own and syncing

I'm in it.
But, I forgot to say, the best one to put in would be Project FlightGear Scenery.
The SVMI-fg-customScenery is just scenery. No objects no AI files or anything. Just terrain

The "project" is like a super-repo instead.
It contains several packages (right now SVMI and TNCM) bundled

Bundling is usually no so good idea because people may want one not the other.

We can update SVMI to be complete, TNCM to be complete, and you could rebuild the "project" using submodules, so you allow someone to get either/or/all of your packages with 1 repo.

That's my recomm.

If you agree, just update SVMI and TNCM, (please ;) )
And I help you rebuilding the "project" with submodules
