Looking for something like this?

Exactly, that would be perfect.

I'll try and keep the list updated.

Awesome work - and thanks for your time and contribution!!!

I have one question though since I recently started playing around with these types of planes, after seeing some videos of the Cub landing on hillsides and pretty much everywhere, and I started trying to do that. It's a ton of fun. BUT - question:

When landing on non-runways or adjacent soil, on some soil the wheels get "stuck" even though the plane doesn't break and the wheels of the cub are 'huge'. Is this an issue with land classes or something that can be changed in your models?

Basically I flew around in Grand Canyon and landed pretty well on a somewhat steep hillside, but then was stuck and couldn't take off. So I then tested the same plane at airports, and if I taxi off the runway/taxiway, onto nearby soil, it's fine - until the soil changes at which point the wheels seem like they're in glue.

Any thoughts on this?

The rolling friction value for each terrain type is hard coded into each landclass. If you have a text editor with search and replace across multiple files using wildcards, it's easy enough to make everything behave like pavement by changing the values to 0.1. If that's what you really want.

Ok, so I'd look for "rolling friction"?

It's not really that I want everything to be like asphalt, but surely you agree that this particular plane has certain characteristics that makes it behaved differently from, say, an F-16, when it comes to how it "rolls" over different types of surfaces, right? So it seems "too bad" that we're missing out on being able to do cool things with this plane considering what it is.

Or, looking at it in another way: While it's not realistic for a mountain side or sandy surface to act like asphalt, the only planes one would bother trying to land on such a surface in the first place would probably be the planes made for it, i.e. the Cub and a handful others. I would bother trying to land a jet on a mountain side for example.

Thanks! :D I'm glad you enjoy them.

Due to the fact that the Cub is Yasim, means it reads what kind of ground its on.So there is really no way to change the way it rolls without changing the ground act like pavement.

Jsbsim dosen't care what the ground is,it will even roll on water.

This fact of Yasim plane getting stuck in grass has come up often when discussing Bush planes. It no fun landing off-airport just to get stuck. :|

Actually I've discovered, and I don't recall when it was implemented but.. JSBsim now has terrain roughness friction factor sampling for FG land classes, maybe since 3.2 or earlier. I've tested a few different planes I have with JSBsim FDM's and they're now bumping and slowing down when in crop grass or scrub.

Update.

This weekend I got annoyed with the Kodiak's FDM,so I fixed it. :D
Just can't make it sit flat. Changing the front gear position didn't work.

Download link on first post of thread.

Warning, I know next to nothing about YSIM but,

Changing the front gear position didn't work

Your referring to the gear entries in kodiak.set?

I imported the model into Blender and the 0 point is the tip of the prop with the plane being to the x positive of that.

There are possible COG issues and from what I understand, it doesn't look like the gear settings in kodiak.set are correct based on what blender is reporting.

Here is what Blender reported for the center of the tires.

front
x=1.25018
y=-0.00531
z=-1.53398

left
x=4.56911
y=-1.63258
z=-1.29215

right
x=4.56912
y=1.59359
z=-1.29215

Maybe this will help or someone more familiar with YSIM can provide some help.

I'll try looking in the kodiak-set.xml. I was looking in the kodiak.xml file which is the Yasim file,didn't think too look anywhere else. :oops:
Thanks for the pointer.
