Re: My first attempt at an aircraft: Saab JA-37 Viggen

Hello,
I am an fg user and I have been waiting for the Saab Viggen to be made available in fg for a long time :) , I use fg V2.6 with which the Viggen is not currently compatible, I cannot think of using the latest builds of fg because my system is pretty old. I would therefore be grateful to you Mr.Necolatis if you could provide me with a version of the Viggen which is compatible with my version of Flightgear (i.e., FG v. 2.6 or even less), it would be a dream come true for me if you could do this for me. :)

Thanks and Regards,
Arul

I can give it a try, but do know that you will not get the custom HUD nor the Radar, as that relies on a 2.10 feature.

Been wanting to make a low-poly version for multiplayer anyway, so should tie nicely into that.

Give me some weeks, and I will see what I can do.

Flightgear 2.6 crashes without any explanation for me every time I start it up with JA37.

Not sure how to fix it, sorry.

Thank you very much for the response to my previous query, it is kind of sad that this problem has not been sorted out yet but I am grateful to you for your attempts to correct the problem and for you previous replies :). I just hope that this issue with the Viggen is sorted out sometime in the future if possible, it is my all time favourite fighter aircraft of the Cold War era. Thanks!

Yes, sorry about that. If you delete 15 lines in an xml file, it will fly on FG 2.8 though. The readme file describes how to do it.

First post has been updated with some news.

And here is a screenshot together with JazzTp (The Viggen's main test-pilot):

Uploaded version 3.024 to SVN and hangar.

Some highlights of the last couple of releases:
New electrical system with battery drain and other stuff.
A systems monitor available from the menu.
A new hydraulic system, 2 actually plus a reserve.
Afterburner now has 3 continuous zones of operation.
2 new annunciator warnings.
Cannon recoil.
Added new livery.
The plane handles strong crosswind landings better.

 I'm glad you liked it, Müller, it was a nice surprise to see you flying the Viggen during the festival :D

today the cockpit look had an improvement (new alluminium texture, and new shader activated)
and the list of "per manual" changes to systems that Nikolai is implementing is absolutely impressive, I already told him, if I owned a real world aeronautics company I would most certainly want to hire him
