I thank the people involved in organizing the Festival, IAHM-COL, elgaton, (sorry if I forgot someone) to those who have made the control at airports especially in Brazil, Omega in SBGL-Rio de Janeiro and Ambro in SBPA-Porto Alegre.
And to all people who attended the event, which involved 3 countries, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. It was pretty busy and a lot of fun.

As my first ATC MP session, that was great fun! I've suddenly realised how much I need to go over procedures, including learning to set a gyrocompass properly:

Thanks for putting up with the noobs! :)

Saturday was the best festival day ever. Along the line Rio to Buenos Aires it was busy with aircraft all the time. Rio to Buenos Aires is quite a boring long distance to me. But luckily there was halfway an atc too in Porto Allegre. After completing SBUR-SBGL-SBPA-SAEZ there were even two surprise atc's near SAEZ at SUMU and SAAR.

Sunday mostly had the atc's around SAEZ only. But that was still good fun, because the SAEZ atc landed us on rw 35 with good x-wind.

Never mind the left-right issues. If you guys had said nothing about it, then everyone would have thought it was planned :-)

Kind regards, Vincent

Ok.
That effectively beats my 8.95NM.
But I gave you hard competition ;)

A big "thank you" to everyone who took part to the Spring edition of the Festival! I ATCed at SAEZ on both days (note to self: reset the bandwidth cap for the Internet connection closer to the Festival next time). Especially, thanks to IAHM_COL, Ambro and Omega for the ATC service, and to all pilots flying in and out of SAEZ - managing to land on/depart from an airfield with a heavy crosswind (up to 20 kts) and a congested ATC frequency was definitely challenging :D

The amount of traffic was incredible - I must confess I didn't think it would be so high, especially considering the (relatively) low activity on this thread in the last weeks. I was positively surprised.

With that said, see you again on November 7th and 8th in the Alps! I think I'm going to ATC at LOWW - the airport and the procedures look quite nice.

(Side note for Omega: could you please share the software you use to broadcast the ATIS on Mumble? I searched for a solution to that problem a while ago, in preparation for the Spanish Festival, but I didn't find a free/quality software for the purpose at that time.)

I used a second mumble instance with virtual audio cable on windows. Then recorded the ATIS through audacity and played it in a loop.

I hope to join you in november, and will hope to fly in courtesy of JAFVA!
I might control LSZS Samaden which is the highest airport in Europe that allows Airliners.

Clever trick. I have never done this (and am not particularly a wizard in Linux sound setup), but it seems to be doable on Linux too, with different methods depending on whether one wants to do it with alsa, jack or pulseaudio (or even with the old OSS...). The following thread gives some pointers:

Great job in organizing this event!

It sure was a good experience.

Left\right was the least of a problem. Saturday was fun trying to figure out the magnetic variation.

Sunday was fun for cross wind landings. After an FG crash on final and a restart, got hit with a strong gust just after touchdown in my PA 60-700 at SAEZ which blew me right off the runway despite a very strong correction into the wind. Gusts were up to 28 knots. It sure was a good learning experience.

Many thanks to IH-COL and all the others for providing great service during this event.

Hope to see more of these events,
