how to start atlas from terminal?

Postby MRKS » Mon Jan 05, 2015 8:23 pm

Hi, all i want is Atlas or any other nice map to run on my mac while flying single. I just need a string that I can copy to the terminal since there seems not to be any other way to fire FG up on Yosemite. Everything else is beyond my understanding of computers. :(
Any one that could help?

Have you tried JMapView?

It does mean installing Java (JRE unless you are a Java developer):

Why don't you use the newer web-based map?
No installing of anything. It's built right in.

Run FlightGear with httpd port 5500 enabled.
Either by using FGRun, go to the last tab\Advanced\Network and check httpd and enter 5500 in the field.
Or using cmd line I think is --httpd=5500

Then in any web browser on your compute type
Code: Select all
http://localhost:5500/gui/map/

You get a nifty little map.
I use my Android/Tablet browser and it works great.
