Stunt-Challenge: SABA JET LANDING

Postby legoboyvdlp » Sat Sep 13, 2014 3:25 pm

I challenge you to do this: land a 777, or any commercial jet of your choice at TNCS, or Juancho Yuransquin Airport, commonly known as Saba. It has an amazingly short runway; in fact, less than 1000 feet! If you can land a jumbo or triple-seven THERE, you are truly a pilot. Have fun ;)

Yes! I said ANY commercial jet, which means right from the DH-106 to the A350.

Very good! It is quite nice. What was your landing speed? Also, not sure if the displaced threshold counts, or maybe its just for touchdown.

The plane stays in the air at about 110 as absolute minimum So i fly a bit faster than that, and finally stall the plane to touchdown. Then it must have a speed of 100-110.

The areas outside the runway are not for landing. You may use it for take-off. Sometimes these areas are very long like in EDDF i believe, with white arrows on them. Never touchdown in such area.

I touched down later than necessary, because i was a bit ill prepared. I wanted to do this quickly.

Kind regards, Vincent

Thanks. Well, I'm sure the people in Saba were getting out the ambulance and fire truck :P

Nope. AFAIR i still had some runway space left which is why i didnt quiet break as hard in the end :)

By the way @legoboyvdlp i'd like to see you try it as well ;)

I will, though probably not very successfully. Also, mine will be screenshots, since I have no screen recorder yet.

Turns out it is impossible to do to me, I suppose because I am not patient enough to try a dozen times. Gave up after five. Will try with new plane soon.
