After uncompressing the .tar.gz file, did you rename the directory containing the aircraft to "787-8"?

I really want this aircraft, it looks awesome! But I don't understand how to download it.. maybe I missed something? I don't know, but I clicked on download cutting edge source that downloaded so then I tried installing it but nothing happened and it says it installed fg-boeing-787-main or something. Please help? :(

  1. Go to The Omega Hangar, open the Aircraft page and click on the "Download cutting edge source" link in the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner section. Here's the direct link.
  2. Your browser will download a file named fg-boeing-787-8-fg-boeing-787-main-xxx.tar.gz, where xxx is a long string of numbers and letters. Save that file to your Desktop.
  3. If you're on Windows, install a program capable of handling .tar.gz files, such as 7-Zip; if you're on a Mac or Linux, the required software should be already installed (there are many of them - search for "File archiver", "Ark" or similar terms).
  4. Open the .tar.gz file in that program and decompress it to the Desktop. You should now have a directory named "fg-boeing-787-8-main" there.
  5. Rename that folder to "787-8" (otherwise the plane will not work!) and move it into C:\Program Files\FlightGear\data\Aircraft (on Windows); if you're on a Mac or Linux, the path depends on where you installed FlightGear.

Why can't I take off? Engines are started fine. I increase throttle for the first time (parking brakes disengaged) and I move about 10-20 feet, then I stop. After that, even at full throttle, it won't budge.

(no gear chokes either)
I would use FSX but I use FlightGear because it's a project with goals.

Fixed my earlier problem, turns out I spooled up too much! :O

Anyway, one small thing - you spelled "Cockpit" wrong on the Cockpit Lights button on the OH panel.

Move the file to Flightgear/data/aircraft
Rename the file to 787-8

And you should be done!

PM me with a screenshot. Elgaton's instructions should have solved your issue.

How do I give you the screenshot?

:cry:

Is it supposed to be an add-on or a plane itself?

Need help:

I can't control any of the control surfaces on the 787 except for rudder, so I wasn't able to take off since the elevator wasn't working(and no I will not try trim :)). The yoke in the cockpit responds to my inputs, so whats wrong?

@kcy8781

Sounds like your Caps Lock key is on

@NLRay

The latest one that I have downloaded has that same problem. This version was last updated on 26/7/2014. There should be other versions around and they do not have this problem.
