Wierd Shader problems

Graphics issues like: bad framerates, weird colors, OpenGL errors etc. Bad graphics ar usually the result of bad graphics cards or drivers.
Forum rules
In order to help you, we need to know a lot of information. Make sure to include answers to at least the following questions in your initial post.

- what OS (Windows Xp/Vista, Mac etc.) are you running?
- what FlightGear version do you use?
- what graphics card do you have?
- does the problem occur with any aircraft, at any airport?
- is there any output printed to the console (black window)?
- copy&paste your commandline (tick the "Show commandline box on the last page of FGRun or the "Others" section on the Mac launcher).
- please upload a screenshot of the problem.

If you experience FlightGear crashes, please report a bug using the issue tracker (can be also used for feature requests).
To run FlightGear on old computers with bad OpenGL support, please take a look at this wiki article. If you are seeing corrupted/broken textures, please see this article.

Note: If you did not get a reponse, even after 7 days, you may want to check out the FlightGear mailing lists to ask your question there.

@Hooray:
There was a screenshot link, but the OP removed it.

@openflight:
Also, in general, you should state the flightgear version.

Will try that (think I did) anyway the Moyes Dragonfly is fine, some of these aircraft have real texture probs:

C172: Black and transparent parts
B1900D: Black oil

I guess some of these have actual shader effects assigned, which you may want to switch off if they're not running.

same problem.

did not give the desired effect.

Copying and pasting the PA28 from FG 1.0 was OK, although at high noon I ma not used to seeing one side of the fuselage in darkness, but I guess in northern latitudes at this time of year this happens , I never noticed. 8)

OpenGL gears works fine as far as I can tell.

The other diagnostic is also OK: here is the output.

FG 2.0 ( In WINE) also shows the same problems. Trees disappear when material selection is made.

Downloading FG 1.9.1 to check.

Possibly a new graphics card for my PC is in order, and monitor resolution is 1024 x 768

A will also read graphics problems Q and A

Update: 1.9.1 exhibits the same problems, and I have used 1.9.1 previously with another PC and graphics card without seeing any of the strange effects here:

Disabling shader effects in model file for the particular model does not really improve things either.

Hardware Problem. Upgrade Hardware.

The shader problems only occur with some aircraft - the 172p for example. Apart from frame rates in the teens, everything works well enough for a very nice Flight Sim.

Particularly enjoying the reflected perspex effect, I have never used any game or sim before that has it.

So I will try to re-map the textures or make them 512 x 512 instead of the 2024. Seems a small price to pay for all that functionality.

Just saw this: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Hardware_Recommendations
If you are serious about running FlightGear, you should avoid Intel HD/GMA cards at all costs - these are integrated chipsets that provide only basic OpenGL/GLSL support.

Just a note - changed to a HP Notebook and problems disappeared.
