Hi FlightGear users, i have some good news.

We are working on those prototypes hard. Meanwhile our supply chain specialist has been working hard also. After some negotiation with suppliers and slight design optimizations, we have managed to lower the price per set for about 10%.

So right now target price for full computer2cockpit set is 450$.

We would appreciate if you would vote our poll that is now on our web site http://www.computer2cockpit.com/?page_id=239 so that everyone can vote.
Thank you for supporting us!

Hi FlightGear users,

We have opened a google+ computer2cockpit supporters community, hopefully to gather our future users in one place.
So if someone is using g+ feel free to join the group and start the discussion.

If anyone is planing on building his cockpit(from scratch) this summer, we would like to offer our interface for testing. No commitment except writing a review on this forum.
It is designed to connect full twin engine cockpit. Weather it is twin piston, twin turboprop or twin jet. All the controls, switches and knobs.

It would have to be someone who plans to connect majority of his cockpit trough this interface, not just use it at input card for part of the cockpit. Someone who looks for complete input solution for his project.

So if someone is interested, feel free to contact us via e-mail.

Loving it, Couple of questions though.
1) Will it be compatible with other flight simulators? i.e. FSX X-plane etc.
2) Prices? Could you give me some average prices? Preferably in pounds.
3) Finally, a guarantee. How long does it have a warranty/guarantee for?
And just a note, I already have Saitek Yoke , Throttle quadrant and rudder pedals,(airliner version) these are all in the pro flight range.
Kind Regards
Ross

Hi,

Thanks for support.

It will be compatible with all flight simulators. We've adapted the design to look like FG Seneca II model because we are targeting pilots and pilot trainees, and FG is opensource. So they can start using it without additional expenses. Also, the FGpanel will allow as to develop full instrument panel for them.

Panels will be cheaper than controls, and the modular approach will allow you to continue using your controls with our panel. We don't want to talk specific prices because we are experimenting with design and price changes constantly, so we don't want to disappoint anyone by saying something cost 60 dollars and later sell it for 75.

However we are hoping to achieve this:
Interface - 53$

Switch Panel - 53$
Navigation Panel - 69$ (detailed piece; Probably won't be able to reduce the price)
Fuel and Trim panel - 42$

Yoke - 93$ (complicated piece; Probably won't be able to reduce the price)
Throttle Quadrant - 56$
Rudder pedals - 81$ (working on reducing the price)

Total: 447$

We are constantly working on reducing the price per product.
These are projections for the first series that will be crowdfunded.
Every next series will have 5% lower prices, but without the first series we won't be able to pull of the next series.
So we encourage perspective users to pre-order for the first series.

When it comes to warranty we will most likely offer our crowd-funders(read investors) lifetime warranty, to express our gratitude for bringing this project to life. And also some kind of discount for future orders.

Plastics are overly-designed so they will last forever. However electronics are something we will test extensively before production/crowd-funding campaign starts.

So taking first pieces will have some benefits :)

Feel free to ask anything.
Can you write how much did you pay for your yoke, pedal and throttle quadrant(s), if you can remember? I'm curious.

I didn't buy them new. The saitek yoke was £45, pedals were £50. The throttle comes with the yoke.
Suggestion: http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/radio.html Something like this. It would be great, especially if around £40/50 (hopefully). But I doubt that. Also a panel like the saitek instrument panel would be really nice.
thanks for the super fast reply ;)

Hi,

we are working on full instrument panel that will be compatible with FG. And target price for that is about 350$

Multi-functional panels are not an option for this project. Primary purpose of this product is flight preparation and multi-functional displays and buttons make that very hard. So we are offering something different. Full cockpit functionality.

We will never go down multi functional road. :)
There is plenty of products like that on the market already so there is no point.

Ah okay. Just thought low cost multi function radio panel would be great. Having a look at that link now.

Good morning.

I wish to share with you a rule that I use in order to determinate the price/value of a yoke/joystick. The numbers we get with computer2cockpit are really good.

The rule is easy, it consists in to divide the price of the product/ number of buttons.

Well, I reach to count 115 buttons. So * 450€/115 = 3.91€ for each button. Having account that there are not only buttons, there are switches, commuters, potentiometers and so on. We reach to the right conclusion that is a good number.

In reference to the value, we found good components, well known, standard, which have been tested in all type of gadgets. Tus they are real life components , with proven efficiency and always replaceable if needed. This is an add value that we check at a first glance, some other values are intangibles but non less important. The project worth, listening to people, creates jobs and fair trade products.

Returning to the price I've divided prize/modules number,450€/7, getting a total of 64'2€ per module. Seemed a fair price to me. Just saving 1,2€ a day we can buy a full set in 1 year.

* Rounded Estimated Price.

This is a translated excerpt from an article published by me in VATSIM Spain forum about computer2cockpit project.

Cheers

Thank you very much Michat. For writing the review. That is very kind of you.
We've tried to post something on VATSIM facebook page, but the deleted it instantly. Even talking to admins didn't help. I guess they have zero "advertising" policy.

I will use this opportunity to inform FG users of project status:
When it comes to development, we are trying to further reduce the production price for the first series. Since we are planig small series(60 sets) it is hard to get good prices for components. And there are those inevitable certification costs and equipment acquisition cost that we cannot reduce.
Also we are performing preliminary design of twin turboprop and twin jet hardware as well as helicopter hardware, so we can make this interface compatible with future products.
The instrument panel design goals are set, so preparations for development of full instrument panel that we have talked about before are complete.

When it comes to marketing we are reaching trough social media mainly and forums. We've got some feedback, but mostly from this forum. Thank you FG users.
We are satisfied with the number of pre-orders we are getting, proving the feasibility of this project. We've managed to draw just about 6500 people to our web site, although we are active on forums, social media groups and so on. As there are many potential users out there, and are not easy to reach, we appreciate all the help in spreading the word about us.

So much work is under way, and hopefully everything will be set in time.

Back to work.
