What Version Are you using?

Postby openflight » Mon Jan 20, 2014 9:00 am

This is a poll version of:

What Version and hardware are you using?
viewtopic.php?f=42&t=17521

Lots of replies to the topic, but a poll would be more convenient?

And there should also be "Current Git" as an option ;-)

I am running 2.4.* I have downloaded but not installed 2.12.1, but with my tempo I just as well wait for 3.0.1 in the summer or so.**

* Though I have not really run it for a few months now...
** At the other hand I had Blender downloaded, waited one or two years, installed it and waited one or two more years before modelling...

Version 2.4 finally!

Some shader/transparency issues but it works fine. Loads in 45 seconds compared to FG 0.98 which is slightly faster at 35 seconds or so.

Bumped up from 2.4.0 to 3.0.0-rc1 the other day. With the new scenery and all shaders off I get about the same frame rate at 800x600 pixels as I used to get at about 1680 x 1000. :|

@Johan, and with the old scenery? That would be a fairer, more interesting comparison ;-)

New and old scenery gives surprisingly small difference:
Code: Select all
FlightGear 3.0.0-rc1, UFO, ESSL (Linköping Saab)

Trees at 1.0    Resolution    Enabled   Disabled

New Scenery    1680 x 1000   9-10 fps  10-11 fps
                 800 x 600  19-20 fps     20 fps

Old Scenery    1680 x 1000 (12-13 fps) 12-13 fps
                 800 x 600 (   20 fps)    20 fps

Trees did not show up with old scenery.
No 3D clouds, no shaders (only ALS).

But still I could have expected about 15-20 fps in full screen with FlightGear 2.4.0.

EDIT: I just realized that I have set the frame rate limit to 20 fps. The frame rate could most certainly go higher than 20 fps in 800 x 600.
