Virtual Air Traffic Organization | A new website!

Postby Omega » Mon Dec 23, 2013 11:45 pm

Hello everyone,

For those who don't know, the Virtual Air Traffic Organization also known as vATO is a virtual organization in FlightGear Flight Simulator that promotes realism in event based operations currently only within Europe, we will be covering the United States and most of North America soon.

Image

Our old website was unfortunately hacked, so over the last 4 months and leading up to this date we have been developing a new and improved website to meet all of our needs.
The features of the new website include but not limited to:

  • A better look
  • Integrated forum
  • Integrated training material
  • Exams/Quizzes
  • + Many more!

In addition to that, we have replaced our Mumble with a TeamSpeak server. We believe that TeamSpeak will significantly improve the way that we communicate.

We also guarantee that you will receive training from the best, top-notch training staff! (Although training is not required for pilots)

Our event operations will start very soon and we will be hosting the weekly EHAM extravaganza event (stay tuned for that). We aim to make our events fun and as realistic as possible. Here in vATO, excellence is a routine.

Feel free to stop by our new website and please do consider joining us! Registration is quick, easy and also FREE!

Visit us at:
http://vatofg.x10.mx

Also view more information about our ATC program or our pilot program.

If you were registered on the old website, you will have to register again on the new website.

If you have any questions about the whole process or anything else, feel free to reply on this topic, PM me, or drop by our TeamSpeak server and talk to us.

Happy holidays!
Chris K.
vATO webmaster.

Great - I've rejoined your new org if you didn't see already. Any chance that we would use FGCom?

Hello,

We are currently only using TeamSpeak for communications (that includes events). This will ensure that Radar (Center) controllers have adequate comm range. TeamSpeak also kind of allows us to switch codecs in order to improve the realism with somewhat of a radio effect. ATIS recording and playback is also a another possibility.

So for now we are primarily using TeamSpeak. Although we may decide to use FGcom in the future, especially with the arrival of the new FGcom version.

I have just now e-mailed you with all the information, please reply back as soon as possible.

Hey guys.
I'm an ATC at vATO and I must say, it is good. I am the guy organizing the EHAM Extravaganza event (Although this may not be running fully till January. Regarding FGCOM, I made a forum post under fgcom support stating there is not a lot of frequency's at EHAM, Schiphol, and I realised there was no alternative but to use Teamspeak. Join everyone! Once you do training you can participate at EHAM Extravaganza.
Merry Christmas!
Ross!

Thanks for Reprorting Cobolt
We are currently checking on this situation, and it appears to be a server maintenance issue.
We expect this to be resolved soon,

If we gave everybody in the World free software today, but we failed to teach them about the four freedoms, five years from now, would they still have it? Probably not, because if they don’t recognise their freedoms, they’ll let their freedoms fall

IHAM-COL most of the deeper links still lead to some foreign website. It seems your (free?) Hostingservice is paid this way... IMHO: Not really great for trust building ;-)

I changed the link on the original post. Alternatively, use the link in my signature.
