How to create/request new frequency?

Postby User15443 » Sat Dec 07, 2013 3:14 pm

Hey guys.
As you most probably have heard I am hosting an event at EHAM Schiphol in the Netherlands some time after Christmas or the New Year.
I have a problem though. There is only one frequency for EHAM and we need a lot more. Any ideas? I use 119.220 but this is only used because i'm the only ATC there usually. But at the event there will be several more ATC's therefor we need several more frequencies. Occasionally I have BIZXgnd helping me and he has to use 121.70 which is an airport 152km away (EHGG). Any support would be great but if we cannot do this we may have to resort to the less realistic option of Mumble/Teamspeak.

Thanks in advance.
Ross

Hi,

You can have a look at this file to know the list of available frequencies: http://mapserver.flightgear.org/git/?p= ... b4;hb=HEAD

As you can see there is 5 frequencies available for EHAM. I hope all these frequencies will help you with your event !

NB: all these informations are true for fgcom.flightgear.org server

Thanks. Only one problem still. We use delta server as I personally (aswell as most people) find it more reliable and it has more people using it. I'll continue doing my research :)
Thanks
Ross
EDIT: I will soon post some reports on what has happened. The 122.20 frequency is not departure as it states, it is ATIS. It may be different on fgcom server so i'll check that out. 121.7 is EHGG in delta... We'll see what happens.

Tested all 5 frequency's here are the results.
128.80 - No connection
121.975 - No connection - See problem at bottom
119.225 - Yup only working frequency (only works as 119.220) - See problem at bottom
122.20 - No connection , although I do know this works as ATIS as it does in real life.
121.70 - Connects as EHGG Ground, although would be better if was EHAM as that is ground at EHAM in real life.
121.80 - Not in the list but it is frequency in real life. Connects as EBAW Ground. Like above.

Problem with stated frequency's (119.225 121.975)
When trying to enter these into Openradar's Fgcom box, it rounds it to 2 places. I believe Fgcom only accepts 2 decimal places in frequency's. This is bad because with 121.975 for example it becomes 121.98.
Thanks for your help.
-Ross
EDIT(Again): The frequency's that we need the most are APP/DEP, one of each. Then we can use 121.8 and 121.7 for ground/delivery.

You have to contact the maintainer of the delta server so. I can't do more for you, sorry.

I checked the frequencys on the fgcom.flightgear.org server. They have the same results as Delta server.

Thanks for the quick reply

Looking at history I can see you are using an old FGCom, I invit you to update your FGCom installation and everything will works fine on fgcom.flightgear.org (I have tested thus I'm sure :) )

Last FGCom documentation (and download): http://wiki.flightgear.org/FGCom_3.0

Providing help on forum is better, that way peoples can read the topic and found the solution (in this case the solution is simply to use the last version of FGCom)

Also don't be afraid to read the FGCom 3.0 documentation, I know the old FGCom documentation is really too long and nobody is ready to spend 5 hours to read all the text.
That's why I wrote a simple and efficiant documentation, in your case you can directly jump to the "FGCom standalone" part, then after 5 minutes of reading, you should be able to run FGCom even if you never touched at FGCom before (I done the test with a totally new user of FlightGear, thanks to him :) )

Hi

This is a bit confusing
i have looked at the site for FGCOM 3
and reading through it there are several referances to FG 3
now i dont know if there is a FG 3 i have 2.12.1 and this is the last issue on the site
and FGcom is not built into this or at east i cant find it
i always have to load an external instance of FGCom

Please take the time to read the documentation. Everything is explained in the documentation, you just have to read it...

Hey again.

I've managed to download it but there is one problem. With Openradar when I push CTRL + L (opens fgcom window) to see how far away the station is, it remains blank.
Any solutions?
