Hi,
Nice model.
The model update webform is still under testing for now. Please consider adding it and give me the model id you would like to replace.
Thanks.

That is looking really good! But that is not Metlife, that is PanAm building! Just kidding
I was trying to make some buildings in blender and would really welcome that tutorial for my improvement. Thanks penta and welcome back.

I've completed a model for the houses located in two bridges, New York.

As you can see from the map, there are many of this X shaped buildings. What's the best method to add them to the fg database: add each building as a separate STATIC model (although model and texture is always the same, only coordinates and heading changes), or is better to add the model as SHARED and add many occurences of this shared object?

Looking good!

would make them shared. Just had a very quick look around manhattan and I believe the model is much more common than just that small group that's visible on your map. Moving north (EDIT: and south!), I could already spot several of such clusters. I wouldn't be suprised if you could find the same model in other cities...

I would add them as static, though they're common to Manhattan/New York they're not necessarily common everywhere. You can re-use static models.

Fantastic, the bridges are really this missing part of NY for me - great to see this.

I've just discovered that OSM has the support for 3d buildings and many of them are already modeled in Manhattan [1]. I also found a program that can convert OSM data to OBJ for later import in Blender [2]. Now what I want to do is to import a single skycraper model in blender, texture it, and send it to the flightgear database. My only concern is about the license of the 3d buildings in OSM: is my workflow acceptable in terms of license?

Whoa. I've never heard about Open Science Map but it looks really nice! There seems to be no elevation data there, though, but I didn't really expect that anyway.

I'm currently working on Brooklyn Bridge, with the unfinished model, that penta did send to me.

If someone is interested, he/she can add lights for the night.

Next I'll build the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
