Missing "settings.fgrun" - is this a bug?

Postby jharris1993 » Fri Nov 23, 2012 5:51 am

I am wondering if this is a bug in the 2.8.n version(s) of Flight Gear?

Issue:
When you start FG from a clean install, you go through the launch dialogs and select your plane, airport, weather, etc. - and then click "next" to start the game.

At that point you are presented with a dialog asking where to load the settings file "settings.fgrun" from - as the program cannot find it.

Apparently, the reason that the program cannot find it is because it doesn't exist yet, and will not exist until you save your initial settings. e. g. the "settings.fgrun" file does not exist because it has not yet been created.

This creates customer angst as noted in this posting: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=16627

Please advise.

Hi,

I've never ever had to do that. And I think that applies to most of the people, given that you two are the only ones reporting this error...
It might be something specific to a certain setup, but I have no idea. You may want to post a bug report at our bug tracker: http://flightgear-bugs.googlecode.com, so we can collect some more ideas (and maybe reports of more people having this issue, if there are any).

Cheers,
Gijs
