Yep, there is. replace the "<" with "&lt;" and the ">" with "&gt;".

Many characters have a "named character entity" since early HTML days. Wikipedia has a good list.

I think you can also surround it with <nowiki> tags, but I've never tried it with this code...

Or, I think this is the easiest for your joystick code articles, place <pre> tags around an entire code...
So many choices :-D
