How Do I Send to Multiplayer AND private server ?

Postby clrCoda » Mon Aug 27, 2012 4:28 am

Is there a way to configure my network OUT so that I can send to multiplayer servers and also to a private server hosted by a friend?

how do you want this to work then, do you want to see the MP traffic provided by both servers??
The simplest option would be using the relay feature obviously
Please don't send support requests by PM, instead post your questions on the forum so that all users can contribute and benefit

The upshot is that i would like to continue to send and track and map thru the normal mpserver system, as usual, using the googlemap and the fgtracker site. In addition I want to track on a tracker set up by a friend on his personal server.

The simplest option is not obvious to me. I am not aware of a relay feature, is what I am saying. :) Do you mind elaborating about said relay feature, please.

Thanks, Hooray for answering this and for any future answer, in advance.

Is it obvious to anyone else?
Am I just missing it?

Hi CirCoda,

I'm not sure to understand correctly your request, but if I understood correctly this should help you :

Code: Select all
--multiplay=in,10,127.0.0.1,5000
--multiplay=out,10,mpserver02.flightgear.org,5000
--multiplay=out,10,my.private.server.ip,5000

The 2 first line are commons : it's just for run FG with multiplayer
The last line send exactly the same data that you send to FG server to your server (of course you need to replace "my.private.server.ip" by your ip.adress)

Cheers,
Clément

Thank you Clement for your kind response.

I had indeed tried that option, that is of adding a second 'out' before posting the original question. I think you will find that the flightgear software will only send to the last 'out' given.

That is, if you have two multiplayer 'out' statements only the first one is ignored when the second one is defined.

Again, thanks
Ray

Additionally, the "in"-argument above tells FG to listen only on the loopback interface - it will not receive packets arriving on the other network interface(s). Just --multiplay=in,10,,5000 should do better.
