Don't know if you already detected this (or is it just me?), but the 787 flies strange during cruise with FBW enabled.
ImageImage
With FBW------------------------Without FBW
As you can see, the rudder moves to the right, but the trim moves to the left.

Even though the aircraft is banking, it flies straight. I can't move the rudder trim any more, and this also happens if I don't permit rudder control. The wind can't be the problem, as other aircraft do a crab when they're cruising in high crosswind, and this pictures were taken with 7 kts of wind. In the cockpit it looks like this: Image

NOTE that I haven't tarred/zipped the folder and uploaded it as a 'release' yet because IT IS NOT COMPLETE. Test it, give feedbacks but don't use it as if it's complete. Look below for the major errors found and what we're working on. If you want to help fix these errors or add stuff to the project, feel free to do it and create a merge request in the -devel repository in git.

Anyway, thanks for letting us know. As far as I can see, either you had you rudder a bit to the right (look at your rudder input control - What's on the HUD is NOT your FBW output) or it's trying to compensate for the wind.

Well, looking into the fbw nasal file, you can see that the Fly-by-wire completely disengages when the autopilot is turned on. By 'cruise', I'm assuming that you're using either VNAV or ALT hold to maintain altitude and in those conditions, neither Dwayne nor I have seen such kind of issue. If you're flying without Autopilot, the fly-by-wire is basically trying to stabilize your attitude, so if your yoke is somewhere around the center, it's going to think that you want to keep flying that way, so if your yoke 'slips' a bit to the right, it compensates by moving the trim to the left. Note that your yoke after processing controls the fbw output props and the auto-stabilizer controls your trim.

First of all, I increased the TCAS's MP and AI capability to a total of aircraft... Now it doesn't leave out a lot of aircraft and you can see most of them...

And second, as we don't seem to be getting anywhere with the echo model of the wxradar, I used that 'method' to create a terrain map. On both sides of the MCP, you can choose what extra stuff you want on your NAV display, like WXR, TERR etc. and you press CLR to clear the NAV display. So, here's how I did the terrain map: I didn't want to copy-paste and rename over 1000 pixels so I just took skyop's High Resolution Moving Map MODEL (only model)... And then, I used some thing called a 'brain'. The visual resolution is 1024 pixels but as they're terrain anyway and we won't have any 'sudden' changes, I only got the radar to get 256 elevations (only 1 line at a time, so not much frame-rate loss), and the others are interpolated. Here's the final result...

What do you think?

Doesn't look bad, really! I'm quite happy with the new 787 already.
Btw, when do engine surges occur? I was flying today at FL360 when maybe after 1 hour an engine surge occured. Both failed, but I was able to restart at FL220. As my speed had dropped, I pushed the throttle forward. Another engine surge, even though I only put throttle maybe 3/4 forward. And FBW would put it all the way up (as I was only at 200 kts), so no chance to really climb up again.

1. An Engine Surge occurs when the airflow into an engine or both engines is disturbed. If there're pressure issues (like air gaps), then the combustion inside moves to the forward to fill up the air gap. That causes flames to be seen in the front of the engine and if not attended, can severely damage the engines. You can cause disturbed airflow into the engine if you fly too fast (live over 400 KIAS, I mean 350 should already bring up the overs peed warning), or if you're flying in severe conditions, like extremely heavy rain or snow storms.

2. During an engine surge, the combustion is 'pulled' forward and the best way to react to a surge is to slow down the aircraft. Reduce the engine N1 to below atleast 60% to reduce the amount of fuel going to the combustion chamber. So do NOT throttle up when you have a surge.

To prevent surges, don't fly too fast, and don't fly into heavy conditions... And you'll be safe. :D

Aha, I did some deep searching and found the issue... It looks like you were using the Autopilot Panel... the idea is, that the FBW disengages when you have the AP master (from the panel) on... that can't be controlled from the Dialog. Simply turn on the AP master from the Panel even if you're using the dialog and it should be fine then.

You're not supposed to, the fly-by-wire does that for you. :P
