AH-64D drawings or very good photos with size ref. needed

Postby sgofferj » Thu Feb 02, 2012 1:52 pm

Hi,

I'm currently preparing to build an AH-64D Block II (or if I can get good materials, Block III) cockpit, pilot's seat for starters. For this, I'm looking for good photos, possibly with size indications or, better, drawings of a few things:
- Pilot's main panel
- (Enhanced) Up-Front Display
- MFDs

Needless to say that I spent hours after hours googling but didn't find anything I could use, except one very good frontal shot of the data entry keyboard.

How about a salees brochure from Westland?
there are still a number of differences in the Cockpits for each country though.

The sales brochure is not really detailed enough. There's a ton of pictures also in the web but in weeks of everyday googling I found 1 (one) that is suitable for actually creating a replica from it...

I can use that one to improve the keypad In the WAH-64. The extra numeric pad, 3 ancilarry buttons and that extra display to the left are not in he WAH version, nor in the refit wich is the one Im doing.
I take it thats a gunners consol though.

The numpad, three buttons and the MFD left above are the UAV control system in the US Block III cockpit :).

If you wanna do it perfectly... Night lightling:
- Green
- Keyboard symbols
- The little frame around each key
- The white line in the turn button
- NOT the white line between num and alpha keys.

The display consists of green dot matrix LED modules from Osram Semiconductors. 22 digits wide.

When it comes to lighting and functionality of the varius gizmoes I'll leave that to someone who knows what there doing with the scripting/animation stuff.
Exterior wise the TILAD/TADS are different as well from the current AH64. Again though there will be a difference with the WAH and AH versions.
Cant everyone ( countries ) agree to use one version. it would make things a lot easier.

Well the problem is that the Block III TADS is so supersecret that it's not even available to US' allies...

It would be if I would be building the CPG panel also :). The frustrating thing is that there are lots of nice pics of the TEDAC but almost nothing about the "normal avionics" in the web, i.e. MFDs, UFD, engines, etc.

Unfortunately not. It's an AH-64A and the drawings are way too small. I need very detailed drawings or photos to build replicas. After Stuart mentioning Westland, I called there and actually got a few infos. Still need more to detailedly work out the instruments, though.

Thanks, I found most of those already. I'm specifically looking for either dimensional drawings of the instruments or high resolution closeup photos. Something that would allow me to build an exact replica. :) As I wrote, this photo is a perfect example of what I need: http://usarmy.vo.llnwd.net/e2/-images/2 ... 112524.jpg
