Slide Tutorial for Website?

Postby openflight » Fri Jan 20, 2012 12:42 am

H

I am new to the new website, and while the site is nicely laid out, it may be difficult for a beginner to obtain the info they need.

How about a "New to Flight Gear? - Tour Website" banner or large tag and a slide show of essentials:

How to download flight gear

How to install aircraft

How to access the forum

How to access the FAQ

How to learn about aircraft

Also, I would like to expand the aircraft info page to include instrument panel shots of all aircraft, and what versions they work with , so that I won't bother loading aircraft that do not work or have incomplete panels,, autopilots etc

Can I amend the Wiki? Good idea?

I think most of that is already included in http://wiki.flightgear.org/New_to_FlightGear
Which IMO should be linked on http://www.flightgear.org/flying/

For that, as.of 2.6.0 we'll have http://wiki.flightgear.org/Formalizing_Aircraft_Status
Airports: EHAM, EHLE, KSFO
Aircraft: 747-400

I like the idea of the instrument panel shots :)

Same here, and yes openflight, the site could probably be improved. Finding those essentials isn't all that easy.
