Now you havn't start at a runway anymore because now you can add a park position for TNCS. At first you download it at the link below. Then you copy or unzip the folder named "TNCS" in the following folder : data -> AI -> Airports. Important is that you have to copy the whole folder "TNCS" in the required folder.

I reworked the airport's textures, now every texture has a size power of 2 and I added night textures.

It would be nice to have it via Terrasync too.

I agree that real-life videos indicate that it should be possible to do a direct-in approach (the above video at the 1:00 mark shows this quite clearly. Earlier FG scenery also made this possible (as shown at the 2:00 mark on this video of Nov 14, 2010):

Some guys from FGUK also did an MP event there in March of last year:

But there seem to have been some changes in the meantime which make the obstruction on the approach to 12 more difficult (as is the takeoff from 30.

. . . going up until the point where the complete area of the touchdown zone first comes into view, it looks a bit steep to me :)

TNCS -some more observations:

Nice thought the custom scenery is (the subject of the OP), it conflicts with Terrasync on my machine:

And shows that the ground has gone down maybe a couple of metres since user KLM-Royal did this in 2012.

And here are some shots of the "awkward corner" with a Cessna for scale:

thanks warty... i took a closer look yesterday and attempted to rebuild saba island for my local scenery but i cannot get terragear to do the output for some reason... there was a bug in the world scenery and this rock wall may be one of the problems stemming from that... the bug has been fixed and now everyone is waiting for the next world scenery rebuild...

"Why not?" said Gurder.

Excuse my ignorance, but doesn't TerraSync work on an "as-and-when-mods-are-made" basis ??

Scenery objects (buildings, parked aircraft, vehicles, dudes with jetpacks, etc.) are the only things that get updated in terrasync in anything resembling real time. Terrain and landcover found in terrasync are generated in a massive global scenery generation event. All the terrain and landcover in terrasync are from the most recent scenery build. The stuff available on the FG main download page (here) comes from the previous scenery build. And, incidentally, TNCM and TNCS are better in the old scenery. No stone wall at TNCS, no bottomless water-filled pit at TNCM.

@tikibar: many thanks for clarifying that! With the old scenery installed and TerraSync disabled, the airfield is much more user friendly :D

"Massive" is quite an understatement. If I recall correctly a world scenery run takes longer than hours, days and even weeks.

just to also add: terrasync is a "simple"(??) SVN client... if the scenery you have now has a different revision number than what is available right now, then the new revision will be downloaded right now... i haven't figured out how/where terrasync keeps up with the revisions but terramaster places the actual .svn directory like a good svn tool should do...

IIRC, the scenery on the google hosting site is updated every night... that means a new revision every night which means a new download every day... the scenery being updated doesn't mean that it is new or repaired... only that it is resynced every night...

No, wrong. I never have to download anything unless there is a change,
Those revisions mean thatbdaily something is added to the fgfs world.

i understand that but i was seeing new downloads every day for the same areas i was flying over... the faster i went, the worse the situation because there would be no tile since it was being downloaded again... then my log would fill up with the sim complaining about no terrain under the craft... KSFO to KDEN was my daily flight back at that time... using the same route manager route every time...
