Errors when trying to connect to multiplayer on ubuntu 11.04

Postby CRU143 » Thu Jun 23, 2011 8:55 pm

when i run:
fgfs --callsign=CRU143 --multiplay=in,10,192.168.15.100,5000 --multiplay=out,10,mpserver05.flightgear.org,500 --airport=KSFO --aircraft=A380

i get:

Cannot connect to server socket err = No such file or directory
Cannot connect to server socket
jack server is not running or cannot be started
Failed to load object

But when flightgear starts, the Network option in the menubar is not ghosted out. I can't receive or send any data.

Multiplayer doesnt work... Any way to fix this?

Shouldn't both multiplayer in and multiplayer out be on the same port; default seems to be 5000.

That 'callsign' message looks like a problem I saw, the multiplayer message symptom is the same. Thorsten posted a patch at the end of this thread ( it requires a re - compile ) or you can get the same fix by doing a rebuild with optimisation switched off.

No bother ! I think someone else saw the same issue when moving to a newer Ubuntu, the root cause is between some code in Simgear and whatever version if the gcc compiler is in use. Did you install FlightGear as a pre-built package or did you build from source, using the .configure .. make commands ? If you did .configure and make, then
the proper commands are in the thread I mentioned. Otherwise, tell where you got the package and hopefully someone can tell us how to get an update.
