Awesome work statto! I wish I had the patience to do the kinds of things you do!

The Pacific Northwest is an amazing place to fly, both in real life and now in FlightGear. :)

(KSEA, coincidentally, is the default airport in MSFS 2004.)

Looking very good. What data sets are you using to generate the scenery?

This is from NOAA land cover datasets I vectorized.

I apologize for posting these because the scenery has some problems both along the coastline and with elevation, and therefore isn't quite available yet. However I'm really impressed with how this turned out and it's already my favorite scenery area to fly around, partially because the variation in the color is truly remarkable - even though the evergreen forests should look completely different.

With 2.0.0, alternative summer textures and Local Weather 1.0:

From Portland to Rainier:

Approach to Rainier:

Passing by...

... and into the plains.

With GIT and transition effect shader:

Approaching Mt. St. Helens...

Image

... and crossing over toward Spirit Lake

Image

(somehow, it doesn't look quite as nice with the GIT shaders than with the alternative texture package...)

And a few problems:

Artefacts in elevation - probably a tile boundary:

*Really* interesting airport layout...

All in all, it came out very nice - in my view, we just need to focus on an advanced texture set to get things really impressive... but that's hardly your problem :-)

The airports problem is my fault, I screwed up by running genapts twice, once with no elevation.

I'll look into the seams but that is a noted problem with TerraGear :(

Thank you for posting your screenshots, they are beautiful!

There should be a new version out in a little while which fixes the airports. I also have to fix fuel tanks near Seattle.

This looks awfully good, Mt Rainier in particular looks stunning. Having more realistic boundaries around water bodies makes such a difference to the flying experience.

Incredible. Absolutely stunning! Mt. Rainier especially. The tile artefacts I have encountered before. What type and format of elevation data were you using?

Or, perhaps the San Andreas fault???

Landing is that big of a problem, but taxiing to the terminal is gonna be troublesome!

Seward Park, the floating bridges, UW Arboretum, Lake Union, even Ravenna Park... hooray for the Emerald City!

After some effort to blend the best textures of both default and alternative summer:

SeaTac airport at sunset (pretty cool what Flightgear can do, huh? But I cheated slightly - I can't really fly with level 5 detail of the urban effect as used in this picture - I only got 5 fps for the shot. However, level 2.5 runs fast enough and doesn't look much worse).

Valleys leading up to Rainier...

Image

...and since that was with live weather, I just had to capture this, although it doesn't show any scenery - the summit of Rainier sticking out of a beautiful layer.

*whistles* Great job on the sceneries! I especially love Portland Airport!
...Is Vancouver, Canada included in your agenda?
Look for "B-BIRD" "N127KY" or "AVA0004" -that's me.

Despite having over 1700 posts here, I am not even close to being the most skilled guy here... I'm just words and bad drawing, not experience. :P

I have to say, I'm enjoying the scenery immensely. It's the first time I've both a detailed scenery and aeronautical charts (the custom France, Ireland and Eastern Europe scenery is really good too, but not within skyvector.com coverage :-( ), and the feeling of immersion I'm getting out of this combination is just stunning.

With blending the best texture combination and customizing materials.xml a bit, this is what I get:

So, thank you very much for this bit of scenery!
