MP Map Navaid Lookup Non-Functional

Postby SkyWlf77 » Tue Mar 29, 2011 4:16 am

Hi all...

I didn't see this covered anywhere else, so here it is. I use the NAV tab on the MP Map to plan flights, check on airport locations (to make sure where I am flying has been accurately placed), etc. Unfortunately, it seems that this tab is no longer functional - at least for me. After keying in an airport ICAO (such as PHNL), it states "Please wait" like it always has, but never generates a list of airports or navaids.

I have tried switching servers on the Server tab, but that doesn't fix the problem. No matter what I try or which options I use, I cannot get a list of navaids (or even a single airport) to show up.

Is this a problem on my end or a server-side problem?

I have attempted this using Firefox 3.5.18, Internet Explorer 8 and Safari for Windows. None work. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and FG 2.0.0.

Thanks!
Jason

Works fine in IE9 and Firefox 3.5.17.

- Does the "Please wait" text remain forever, or does it dissapear after a while?
- Did you tick the checkboxes underneath the search field? Those define what type of Navaids the map should look for.

Hi, Gijs...

1) The "Please wait" remains forever - or at least for 20 minutes, which is how long I gave it until I gave up each time I tried.

2) I had the checkboxes for "Airport" and "Airport Name" checked as well as the "Airport" box on the bottom right (for what gets displayed). I attempted to check every box as well the last time and still no change.

I appreciate the help in trying to locate the problem.

I've had the problem before. Usually, refreshing will fix it. I'm not having a problem with this right now.

Were you using http://mpmap02.flightgear.org/? If so I experienced the same problem, however it appeared to work fine in 01. 02 was down these last few days, but it appears to be working fine this morning.

I've tried refreshing multiple times on all 3 browsers, but it seems to have no effect on the operation.

Thanks for the continued support here and I'm open to any suggestions at all that anyone might have.

Have you tried using http://mpmap01.flightgear.org/ instead of 02?

Hi, Basher...

Yes, I attempted to use both. MPMap 02 failed to even show pilots or aircraft on the map, much less any navigation aids. MPMap 01 showed pilots and aircraft, but still no NavAids.

Thanks!

I did notice last weekend that it was really slow... one lookup too almost 10 minutes but did finally appear... but it seems to be working for mpserver01 using Firefox 3.6.16 at least at the moment (Tuesday 29/03/2011 @ 5PM Eastern).
