An other interesting website for Aircraft Performance http://elearning.ians.lu/aircraftperfor ... CAOFilter=
They write Approach Speed 240 kts, and Landing Speed 140 kts, this one instead http://www.lissys.demon.co.uk/samp1/index.html writes Approach Speed 133 kts. There's a confusion about the Approach Speed meaning (240 kts ? or 133 - 140 kts ?). Do some of you know anything about the slowing down procedure in approach, and from when (or where) the aircraft has to be at 133kts?

They're just using different names for each value-the 133-140 speed is final approach, like after intercepting the ILs. The 240 speed is probably the speed used wile approaching the beginning of the final approach.

That would seem right, since under 10,000 feet the "speed limit" is 250 kt.
Taking an indefinite break from the Flightgear community.

New 787 Release!

http://www.mediafire.com/?122q2lov9pmg4gh

The OHP "demo" has been completed in demo form. As always, download and extract on top of your folder from the main, slightly updated download. Replace any files that it asks you about.

-Added the lit-up buttons for the main functions of the electrical section of the OHP, and mapped them to their correct orange displays.
-Separated the lit-up textures from base textures. The new lit-up one is only one object, lit up with more of a white light than before, which is accurate from pictures that I have. (Both of the .xcf files that I use for this are in the folder)
-Most of the functions of the new part have been mapped to older equivalents-but for things like drive and the APUGens, both buttons operate the same switch. Currently, the cabin utilities and inflight entertainment do nothing but toggle their properties.

Pics available here.

It is still far from its final stages, but is complete enough for you to test out, which is what I wanted. I want to know if I should just go ahead and continue the OHP with this style, or if I should make a couple changes before I go along. Don't expect too much from me over the next few weeks, I have some heavy school work and some other activities.

For someone with access to Git (Skyop :wink: ): ndb.xml in the Models/Cockpit folder has been updated. It needs to go on git. It fixed that it used to completely disappear when the cabin blacked out from lack of electricity. I STILL haven't been able to get past the 503 error. :evil:

*cricket, cricket* Where is everyone? :?

New CRJ-200 Release!

http://www.mediafire.com/?2cc3jugkxfvq9qq

FDM update. Some people were having problems with the flap overspeed being too unforgiving, sending you tumbling forward as a elevator stall happened. I worked with this, and also reduced some approach drag. CRJ-200.xml (FDM) needs to go to Git. Still can't get past the 503 error, yet again. :evil:

I also found a LOT (almost too much) of data on the CRJ-200 from the smartcockpit site. I'll try incorporating it into work on the OHP and rest of the cockpit soon, which will probably allow me to make the CRJ-200's cockpit more complete than the 787 in the future because of more data being available.

I'll try and get that into my repository right now. Merge request #42 is still under review due to the airport textures, so I might be able to slip it in.

Yeah, get that done. Definitely want the update to be in Git.

By the way, since nobody said anything about the development 787 cockpit, does that mean that it looks good? and I should continue with it in that way?

Response 787 development cockpit:
Nice. Every switches and knobs are clickable (except FWD and AFT EXT POW). Knobs for Cockpit and Buttons enlighting are left - middle clickable, and progressive with scroll wheel.

(Engine indicators do not work, but I guess that's not the present matter.)

I don't understand how the APU knob works. It is on START, I can set it on ON, but not on OFF. What is the difference between ON and START? Wouldn't it be OFF or ON for steady positions, and START only for starting?

AP, another smalll thing: I've still improved the ROLL softening by dividing the speed interval in three parts instead of two (in Nasal/system.nas). The progression is more gradual.
it gives this (in Nasal/system.nas):
Code: Select all
#outboard aileron controls

var cur_ias = getprop("/instrumentation/airspeed-indicator/indicated-speed-kt");

if(cur_ias < 170) {
 setprop("/autopilot/internal/aileron-max",1);
 setprop("/autopilot/internal/aileron-min",-1);
}

if(cur_ias > 170 and cur_ias < 270) {
 setprop("/autopilot/internal/aileron-max",0.65);
 setprop("/autopilot/internal/aileron-min",-0.65);
}

if(cur_ias > 270) {
 setprop("/autopilot/internal/aileron-max",0.3);
 setprop("/autopilot/internal/aileron-min",-0.3);
}

The APU knob is kinda weird, I haven't exactly made the animation show the knob's correct position, in terms of the value in the current way the APU is running. I believe the switch automatically toggles between the OFF and START positions, and once the APU spools up to when the APU RUNNING light comes on, the switch goes to the ON position automatically. I'll fix it in the next release.

As for the AP, I'll have that in the next development release, which may be ready for release as early as tonight. But one thing I did notice-it overshoots quite badly when doing a long turn (one where you get to full bank angle), by at least 10 degrees of heading. This was why I didn't include your original implementation of this system in the main, git and front-page release.

New 787 Release!

Main:
http://www.mediafire.com/?t1s0yyz11i4agoj

Development addon (extract on top of the above link):
http://www.mediafire.com/?b50hwbvk92bpuuu

Implemented on both models is a perfect main gear animation (the wheels rotate against the ground perfectly) and also edits to the wingflex animations, which have been changed in terms of their floppiness, and also both ways of flexing are seen over MP, using the existing gear compression props and also the pilot-g one. On the development version I fixed the APU knob, and that's pretty much it. Next up is probably going to be the beginnings of the CRJ-200's OHP, either tomorrow or Tuesday most likely.

787:
Your Gear compression animation works very well, with no weird gear rotation associated to compression as before. Wheels and Wingflex animations work very well too.
Cockpit Development version: Now, I understand how the "APU Start" operates, we can clearly see at which step it is, and everything on the OHP works well.

A small detail: knobs 2 (APP, VOR, MAP, PLN) and 3 (10 - 640 range) were not clickable. I've uncommented WXRADAR range and mode lines in /Panels/Ap_Fd.xml, but I hope it was the right thing to do, because I don't know why they were under comment (It works, at least with left click).

Apart from such more or less clickable items with no importance, very nice to see and pleasant to fly :D .

I took the CRJ200 for an Atlas Virtual Express flight today, and I encountered a few problems with the FDM. I think the elevators are still too powerful; the autopilot is a little spazzy when changing veritical pitch modes, and the plane goes insane when breaking 300 KIAS (I don't think that's realistic at all, since the maximum operating speed of the CRJ200 is 335 KIAS, and I'm sure it doesn't porpoise at this speed). I also had a negative angle of attack when cruising, though that might have been because my fuel reserves were near-empty. I even noticed some porpoising during my descent, doing 180 KIAS with flaps 2/3.

The ailerons also need to be a tad more powerful- not too much, just a tad. ;)

Is that the most recent version that I posted? I tried fixing some of that in the most recent version.

I believe so; it's the most recent one you had me upload to Git.

I also stalled out on final at around 125 or so KIAS. The plane rolled over to the left and dived uncontrollably. A CRJ200 with near-empty fuel tanks stalling out at 125 KIAS and rolling over to the left? I don't think that makes much sense.
