List of all aircrafts

Postby longfly » Mon Dec 27, 2010 4:36 pm

Hi FG-users

Maybe you read it already in the wiki-newsletter (December):

I'm creating a list of all aircrafts available for FlightGaer there are currently about 445 aircrafts but only 116 added to it yet ( http://flightgear.bplaced.de/filemanager/aircraft-list/index.html)

Why? I know there is already one in our wiki (http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php/Aircraft) but there are only ones with wiki-article and in the official FG-hangar (http://flightgear.org/Downloads/aircraft-2.0.0/) is a "list", too

But: there are only official aircrafts and some other very good ones like the Phantom in Dave's hangar (http://members.cox.net/davidculp/hangar.html) is missing (and i think it have not the right License for FG)

The list should look like that for every aircraft:

What do you think about the project? Any ideas or criticism?

I like the idea a lot. But I can`t download them. And I`d like to get some aircraft like the ATR 42 from there.
Is downloading from there possible, or is it some problem involving my computer or internet?

Hi Wingtipped,

I can reassure you that your internet connection is ok :P
Only a few links are insert (AH-1 or T-2 ) yet - the others are dead

I am going to do this when all aircrafts are added and then i will add the links to the wiki-articles and the last update date

Unfortunately you have to wait up till i add them :(

(but the ATR 42 you can download here http://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4677&start=105&st=0&sk=t&sd=a)

i`m OK with that. I got other things to do too, like testing aircraft(mainly airliners).

Very nice work! I really appreciate that the models are shown with roughly the same perspective. It makes it so much easier to identify or compare them! :D

I also like that I can sort them, but I'm getting some strange results when trying each sort button. Some planes then might appear several times! :?

There are three additions which I would like, but that would take more time to implement. One is to show what version of FlightGear they are compatible with, the other is a slightly zoomed out picture of the cockpit and the third is to have a link to the hangar where the plane can be found. It's just suggestions, as I do understand that they would add to the work and the maintenance.

Apart from that I'm happy enough with it to save a bookmark! :D

Bravo! This is the first time I've seen some of these aircraft.

In addition to a cockpit picture, it'd also be nice to have a link to a Wikipedia page for the aircraft.

Nice...
But: a) I haven't yet seen any of the Lockheed 1049 Constellations
and b) it's Blohm und Voss instead of "Blohm unf Foss" ;)

Hi Blender3D,

I'm doing this alphabetically and I'm only at c, yet.
Lockheed 1049 Constellations begins with a L so there is a lot of work until then.
And:

My computer crashed  - so I have to collect all the aircrafts again. It's not so complicated but must done

this is a time-blow (I hop thats the right word - translated with google :?: )

And thanks for that mistake "Blohm unf Foss" I'm going to correct this in the next update. :P

Hello again

I shall refer in the note to Johan G and some other
Very nice work! I really appreciate that the models are shown with roughly the same perspective. It makes it so much easier to identify or compare them! :D

thanks!

I also like that I can sort them, but I'm getting some strange results when trying each sort button. Some planes then might appear several times! :?

Yes, I'm going to fix this problem - see below how the list works

Some Ideas

One is to show what version of FlightGear they are compatible with

I'm going to test all planes with the GIT-version - and I will add an information if it isn't working with it.

the other is a slightly zoomed out picture of the cockpit and the third is to have a link to the hangar where the plane can be found

Look at the AH-1 8) (it is number 40) I am going to do this for all aircrafts but this will be take some time.

Apart from that I'm happy enough with it to save a bookmark!

that's great - thanks :P

@all:
I've a question about the hangarlink

should it be directly to the downloadpage of the aircraft... (like http://jackmermod.byethost24.com/Alpha-Js_Hangar/Downloads.html)

or to the home-page of the hangar (like http://jackmermod.byethost24.com/Alpha-Js_Hangar/Home/Home.html)
any suggestions?

some updates so far only for the AH-1:

I've added a cockpit-link, the wiki-site and the hangar-link.
As you can see at the top of the list the star symbolizes that the aircraft and the cockpit is very well modeled:

What do you think about this? Feel free to add comments!!

BTW: a happy new year and all the best in 2011
