I'm really enjoying the CRJ-200 so far (currently using CRJ-200102210); the autopilot is super and the model looks fantastic. I always have a problem when trying to land though as when you push the nose down beyond the aritificial horizon it seems to jump down in increments of 10 degrees or so, meaning that accuratley hitting a runway is made quite difficult.

It's possible I'm flying it the wrong way of course, but is this just me or is it something others are experiencing?

Why are you pushing the nose down below the horizon? Planes land with the nose up

Some CRJ-200 news:

-US Airways Express livery (with the wavy stripes!!!) uploaded to FlightGear Liveries site.
-FDM refined a bit.
-Replaced the old opaque green window textures with glass shader (looks SO much better)
-The lights that are supposed to blink actually blink now, but I don't know about if they all blink like they're supposed to.
-Slightly modified mapping-the rear tail of the right fuselage was off the image, so I shifted everything 8 pixels (in 1024 x 1024 mode) over. All liveries correctly modified, I think.
-Autobrakes script now actually looks into the autobrakes variable-I know because it gave me framerate-limiting errors because I used controls/engine/throttle instead of controls/engine/engine[0]/throttle.

Expect a release hopefully on Thursday.

787 development has paused until dany93 and I can find out why our versions act differently and then make a front-page release.

New release!

http://www.mediafire.com/?dbjj09h9rnca3jn

HUGE amounts of new stuff.

-Much better FDM than before.
-AUTOBRAKES! Tab to cycle, shift-tab to reset to 0. 6 total settings, including off and RTO.
-Blinky lights now blink (strobe and beacon), all lights switchable through a dialog, including sliders for cockpit and cabin lights.
-The modified mapping to put all of the fuselage on the image!
-New glass shaders on windshield and light covers. Still the same lame black textures for the main windows, though.
-Liveries renamed according to their regional airlines instead of their parent airline.
-The newly slightly modified liveries (due to the mapping change) are being uploaded to the official FG liveries site.

Still to do:
-Add a bit of drag to the flaps to get more than 1/4 throttle on approach.
-Fix the autobrakes issue-doesn't disengage properly at the .6 setting because the value isn't really set to .6, but 0.5999999999999999999999999999999999 (even though the value is set to 0.6 in the setfile binding)
-ANYTHING (yes anything) that you people see that should be fixed before a front-page release.

Nick! I remember the first time I flew this plane it was a disaster. It was also very heavy on the nose.

Oh is flies so beautifully now :D I love how it touched down exactly at 132-130 :D It did it a good number of times! When it touches down the wheels act so realistically, pressing as it touches down. Perfect.

It's always nice to have compliments (or even just someone posting!). :D

Currently, with the CRJ-200, I made a SkyWest Airlines United "Battleship" livery, and redid the lights template for the CRJ-200, inspired by the 777's. I've added some bolt textures around the windshield. For livery makers: 2 things. Use 2048 x 2048 resolution. And make sure to make your liveries with the newest CRJ-200's release! I had to move the mapping because the rear end of the tail was off the mapping, which came in problematic with the US Airways Express livery whose gray stripes go to the end.

For the 787, it has a couple glitches on the external model. I think I'll take an older model (that has the improvements that I've made) and do the small mapping changes again, which are on the main gear doors. The glitches that are happening are problems with transparent objects going all the way through the fuselage (you can see all the way) and the wing light textures not working correctly, they aren't even selected when I turn off the winglights. Dany93 has been working on the FDM and autopilot. I'm almost done fixing the main gear animations, with their rotation based on the difference between the main gear and rear gear. .25 of a difference means for 20 degrees, or the gear is animated flat.

The one in my sig is probably a good bet. Once dany93 releases an FDM, I'll make a release with improved systems, including the autobrakes and new livery lighting.

what is sig (sorry for my bad understanding  ) so after dany93's fdm comes out the even better releases will come?

That's the link. And yes, once dany93 releases the new FDM (and also possibly an AP) I'll put out a new release with the new systems and improvements, mostly which will be similar to what I did to the CRJ-200.

From my point of view, the best for FDM and autopilot is currently this one (the last, 787111410-V04) http://www.datafilehost.com/download-7ab29f46.html .
You can download it, it works well as it is. Of course, better releases will follow, at least you can see from this thread that Nickyivyca is still working on improvements. For me, I find it with its FDM and autopilot nice as it is, but nothing is never sure ... And it's so easy to replace an old model by a new one ... possibly keeping the old one elsewhere just in case.

Small rectification: it's not "dany's" FDM, this FDM, and more recently its new geometry, has been brought by Nickyivyca. I've adjusted a few parameters to (I hope) improve it or fit it to external documentation.

Just some random things I was doing with the old 787 FDM (the really old one, with 90500 lbf engines).

I took off from Quito, Ecuador at 100% fuel load. I struggled to gain altitude and airspeed, but I did before I hit any mountains. I set a waypoint at 0,0 and began the journey there. I kept on going past that, and my estimates showed that I would have to land somewhere in Micronesia. FG is in a crashed state over Indonesia after a low framerate, high speeduprate spazzout by the AP, but I made it halfway around the world, at the equator (according to my measurements). And I still have a quarter of my fuel left!

So no matter what, whatever we put onto the front page will be an improvement.

Some problems with the model-the lights are acting REALLY weird. Or really, anything transparent. Anything transparent means that it will cut through anything in between it and the ground or sky. So on the wings, even with the winglights supposedly turned off and selected away, they still show up and let me see through them straight to the ground. The same happens with the bright white light textures that are placed right in front of the lights. I'll post a release soon to see if others are having the same problem.

I was taking the CRJ-200 from KSFO to KLAX. However upon taxing out the gates, I realized there were four wheels flying taking off from the pushback, going over the jet, and right back where it came from  Did you include free aerobatics or something, Nick? :P

Must be something wrong with the wheel animations on the pushback model-I'll look into it.

MEANWHILE:

http://www.mediafire.com/?j9f7l48t1jbgyk7

This 787 release is to try and find out if my problems are just centered to my computer, as well as to combine dany's most recent FDM touchups and AP. The transparenty, light textures are acting really weirdly on my computer, allowing me to see through stuff behind them, and some aren't responding to their animations. Here are some screenshots:

Image

Image
Tell me if they're happening to you!

By the way, I also have tried fixing the gear compression animations. I'd like some feedback on the main gears and their animations as you pitch up to take off-maybe set the spoilers so you run along in that pitchup position. They don't seem to be rotating properly.

Also, I have an FG blog now...see my sig. If this release proves to be fine, I'll post the link on it.
