Thanks Chrison. I don't really need it right now :D But when I get the time, I'd love to see it.

Chrison, could you possibly send me the files for the HUD you are using?? I'd like to play around with it.

TC

No problem, TC. The file is available for download here:

http://www.joinco.ca/FlightGear/helihud-2010-10-26.zip

This file contains the original version by D-HUND plus two versions of my modifications - one for FG 1.9.1 and the other for FG 2.0.0. Instructions for installing the new HUD are in a README file in the original version. Also, the NEWS file outlines the improvements I've made to D-HUND's original HUD. Everything is GPL'd so do with it as you please but, of course, do "play nice" and give credit where credit is due. (wink!)

Again, the original code was created by D-HUND, so if you like what you see give him the credit first... not me! If you make any improvements to it, I'd appreciate receiving a copy of it. My e-mail address is in the NEWS file. Be sure and put "FlightGear HeliHUD" in the subject line of any e-mail messages so that I don't delete it thinking it's spam.

Enjoy!

Regards,

Chris

Flaps or speed brakes. It's got flaps and spoilers. I don't know about speed brakes though.

Ctrl+b I think. Sorry, I'm not exactly sure, since I use a joystick button for that. If that's not it, go to Help>Aircraft Help, and it will tell you there.

On both the CRJ and 787, K brings the setting for the speedbrakes up. One enabled them once the left gear is compressed, and a second time makes them go out about a third of the way. I'll probably have a third setting eventually for full extension. J takes down the setting. Ctrl-b either toggles between armed and off, or third and off. On the next releases the full extension should be available.

This may sound silly, but why the left main gear? Why not both main gear or just the nose gear?

When I first programmed it, that's how it's set. I might as well add both main gears to the script. Autobrakes engage when the nose gear compresses, so I won't use that.

Wait, shouldn't you use gear[1] or gear[2]? After all, the autobrakes engage immediately on touchdown, not when you bring the nose down.

I'm using gear 1 (left main) for the spoilers (currently), and attempting to use gear 0 (nose) for autobrakes (I'll hopefully have those worked out by next release). If you have the autobrakes go when the main wheels touch down you could bring the nose down too sharply.

Why is the 787 push-back going slow? :(

The thrust on the thruster is probably a bit low, I can always add some more to it.
