Submit your screenshot for the SOTM of November 2021

Postby Anarcho-pilot » Sun Oct 31, 2021 5:52 pm

Hello everyone!

Now's your chance to submit your candidate for November's FlightGear SOTM contest!

Participation Rules
1. 20 entries (because a poll can only have 20 options).
2. Only one entry per person to give everyone a fair chance of submitting a screenshot.
3. You may enter one extra for somebody else. This person of course can submit their own candidate.
4. If you submit a screenshot of another person, please make sure he/she grants you the right to publish it under the correct license.
5. Please convert your picture from PNG into JPEG (plenty of converters online).
6. Must be taken with FlightGear.
7. Every picture should have a caption. It would be useful to add the name of the aircraft and the location, where the screenshot was taken, to the caption. (For example: "Greeting the dawn - C172P, Keflavik".) Otherwise, please, mention it at least in your entry.
8. Screenshots must not be post-processed except from cropping and/or resizing (but you may use the in-sim ALS filters). You may also add titles mentioning an author of the screenshot and/or aircraft/location displayed on it.
9. You may change your entry as often as you want, until the voting starts.
10. You agree to license your screenshot under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license for publication by the FlightGear project.
11. You agree that the screenshot may be used to promote the FlightGear project, including publication on the flightsim.com forum with proper attribution according to the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license.

Here is a Wiki article with some advice on making nice screenshots: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Howto:Make_nice_screenshots .

Voting will start when 20 entries are reached or at the latest on November 21st, in a separate topic.

Best wishes - Anarcho-pilot.

After a session of multiplayer jump runs at TFFJ / St. Barthelemy with the C182s

That is a new feature of the C182s: you can drop out jumpers and they are visible in multiplayer :)
Sadly i can only post one screenshot here, but here is more: viewtopic.php?p=394588#p394588

Final Approach
Image

Plane spotting on the VAT Sim network somewhere in Europe. (I forget where)
I was setting myself up to ungraciously dismantle this perfectly good little airplane and then off in the distance I heard a voice.
And I think it was that of my flight instructor saying: "You can always go around"

Hello, MariuszXC. Sorry for so late response. I see a seam on your image. Could you, please, explain, how have you manage to create it? It seems like two separate pictures joined together in an image editor.

Hello, Tufter. Your image is in PNG, but should be in JPEG. Please, convert it and update your post to provide a link to the converted version.

I feel like HDR will be the next novelty to dominate the SOTM, after compositor shadows and photoscenery

is that with WS3.0? or does HDR work now with WS2.0?
Too bad my FG doesn't work anymore with HDR... just shows a frozen image.

Hello,

Actually it is one screenshot, taken in FG using F3 key, from my three-monitor setup.

The stitching effect comes from the fact, that side monitors do not touch the main (center) monitor but are a few cm to the sides and I take this into account when defining bezels in camera group setup. This way everything looks smooth when viewed while actually flying, but a screenshot looks like some parts were removed from the scene (which is in fact true, if one thinks how bezel widths affect camera views).

The only changes to the original screenshot were:
- cropping to common height (center screen is 1080 pixel high, while side monitors are 1024 pixel high, so I had to crop to 1024),
- converting from PNG to JPG.

If you still have any doubts I can provide the original PNG.

Regards, Mariusz
