FlightGear's Screenshot of the Month: December 2016

Postby dg-505 » Thu Dec 01, 2016 9:00 pm

Hi friends :D

let's start with the last screenshot contest for the year 2016!

Participation Rules
1. 15 entries allowed (because a poll can only have 15 options)
2. Only one entry per person to give everyone a fair chance of submitting a screenshot.
3. You may enter one extra for somebody else. This person of course can submit their own candidate.
4. Please convert your picture from png to jpg (plenty of converters online).
5. Has to be taken with FlightGear.
6. Every picture should have a caption.
7. Screenshots must not be post-processed except from cropping and/or resizing (but you may use the in-sim ALS filters).
8. You may change your entry as often as you want, until the voting starts.
9. You agree to license your screenshot under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license for publication by the FlightGear project.

The voting will start when 15 entries are reached or shortly before Christmas or shortly after Christmas, we'll see....

Post your screenshots before it's too late

Cheers
Jonathan

Oh, by the way: Would you like to see a Screenshot of the YEAR 2016 contest where all winners of 2016 will participate??

we did a 2015 screen shot of the year, didn't we? i remember some discussion about SSotY at some point...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

The last approach
Image
Background story: Vaeroy island, the island seen in this picture, has had a small airport served by Wideroe DHC6s for many years. It was known for heavy problems due to wind shears and in 1990 a DHC6 crashed there due to those wind shears tearing the aircraft apart. http://aviation-safety.net/database/rec ... 19900412-0 Immediately the airport was closed for air traffic. Today it though still exists, the terminal is inhabited. This picture reflects one of the last arrivals at the airport before the tragetic accidend. 7 years later a heliport started operation on the other side of the airport lasting till today. This video might show you how hard it was to arrive at this airport: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km4WPTUI_O4

I though you meant that figuratively till I read the link... Yikes! It literally was torn to pieces within a minute after departure. :? :( That is a screenshot with a story, and a great sceenshot at that.

I was about to get off topic here, as I could not help but browse through the official accident rapport. I instead posted that over in Accidents and Incidents / Amazing Landings & Take Offs.

That's pretty awesome. Is that an AI scenario or is the boat also controlled by someone? Love the guy hanging on at the end

The Boat is a Lifeboat scenery object. You find them dotted around the UK scenery shoreline.
