Submit you screenshot for the SOTM January 2023

Postby lomar » Fri Jan 27, 2023 3:28 am

Hello everyone!

After a brief delay, now's your chance to submit your candidate for January's FlightGear SOTM contest!

Participation Rules
1. 20 entries (because a poll can only have 20 options).
2. Only one entry per person to give everyone a fair chance of submitting a screenshot.
3. You may enter one extra for somebody else. This person of course can submit their own candidate.
4. If you submit a screenshot of another person, please make sure he/she grants you the right to publish it under the correct license.
5. Please convert your picture from PNG into JPEG (plenty of converters online).
6. Must be taken with FlightGear.
7. Every picture should have a caption. It would be useful to add the name of the aircraft and the location, where the screenshot was taken, to the caption. (For example: "Greeting the dawn - C172P, Keflavik".) Otherwise, please, mention it at least in your entry.
8. Screenshots must not be post-processed except from cropping and/or resizing (but you may use the in-sim filters). You may also add titles mentioning an author of the screenshot and/or aircraft/location displayed on it.
9. You may change your entry as often as you want, until the voting starts.
10. You agree to license your screenshot under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license for publication by the FlightGear project.
11. You agree that the screenshot may be used to promote the FlightGear project, including publication on the flightsim.com forum with proper attribution according to the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license.

Here is a Wiki article with some advice on making nice screenshots: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Howto:Make_nice_screenshots .

Voting will start when 20 entries are reached or on Feburary 3rd (so there's at least a week for submission, in a separate topic.

December's or January's? copy'n'pasta error?
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Not an FG screenshot this month, as I'm away from my controls on holiday in NZ however, I took this photo from the Crown Range Summit viewpoint, the last turn on NZQN approaches through the mountain valley , and the first time the pilot gets to see the runway 8)

"Pilot's first visual on Queenstown runway"

I also watched a plane on approach, going below this viewing position!

Looking at the news around the last time anarcho-pilot logged in on the forum it looks like the power infrastructure was badly hit that day.

Hello everyone. Sorry for being absent for such a long time! For everyone who were worrying, I am okay.

From now I am "retaking control" of the SOTM contest (have seen that the beginning of the voting is scheduled for today). I will create the voting topic and start the poll today or in a couple of days (in the second case people will have some extra time to submit their works). And also I would like to give some explanations about what has happened :(.

I see that there is no voting yet, therefore I'd like to include a "last minute" image:

Flight from Lisbon to Madrid, still close to Lisbon

Hope you like it! And thanks to lomar for taking over and to anarchopilot for returning. It is good to see SOTM is carrying on!

Too late? If not, then here's @D-ECHO's Cessna 140 climbing out along the Maitland River past Goderich, ON (Canada) towards a frozen-over Lake Huron.
